I Found an Abandoned Ambulance Packed With Supplies—My Family Thought I Was Dead Inside It
The city had collapsed three weeks after the zombie outbreak, and my family was running out of everything.
While searching for medicine and water along an abandoned highway, I spotted an ambulance sitting beneath an overpass.
Its doors were unlocked, and inside I discovered enough supplies to keep five people alive for weeks: bottled water, canned food, antibiotics, batteries, blankets, and emergency tools.
I called my family on the radio, but before I could explain what I had found, a massive swarm of infected poured onto the highway.
I climbed inside the ambulance and locked the doors, hoping the reinforced vehicle would protect me.
Then something slammed into the rear doors.
The impact knocked me unconscious.
When I woke hours later, the ambulance was surrounded by darkness and dozens of infected.
My radio was still transmitting, but I could hear my family desperately calling my name.
They had seen the ambulance surrounded and assumed I had been killed.
I escaped through a hidden maintenance hatch beneath the vehicle and disappeared into the ruined city.
But getting back to my family became almost impossible.
The supplies inside the ambulance could save us, yet someone had deliberately stocked that vehicle before the outbreak.
And when I finally discovered who prepared it, I realized the zombie apocalypse was not the only danger hunting my family still waiting outside.

So my guess is, the MC was comatose but not infected (or infected but their immune system fought it off before turning), and the paramedic in the back stepped out because the driver had turned.. driver zombie ignoring the coma patient to chase the screaming paramedic... eventually the MC woke up partially, escaped the ambulance while confuse, but was sleepwalking as if he was a zombie, thus safe from the actual infected, wandered around for a few days, then circled back and drove off...
