I tbink people forget that DID stems from trauma and also hugely underestimate the AMOUNT of trauma a person must experience at such a young age that her brain feels the need to fragment itself to stay intact... It is beyond tragic and not quirky or fun.

I have a friend with DID and istg, if she hadn't told me about it, I never would've known. That's how subtle the switches actually are, cuz I literally just thought she was a generally forgetful person before finding out.

I got diagnosed with DID in 2022. I really struggled to accept that diagnosis because of this channel. It looked nothing like my lived experience, and confused me horribly. I can’t watch them anymore because they just make me angry now.

It took me 15 years, 6 therapists, 5 psychiatrists and 3 physchoberapists to get my DDNOS with Hallucinatory Psychosis. It isn't just "let me turn the camera on and do the mental dance for money and clout."
No. We hide, this disorder MAKES US hide. It's about survival, not flashy show off make up and costume changes for camera tricks and clout.
Edit: to the skeptics, save your words. You don't know where I live so you don't know how my mental health system looks over here or how pros are classified. Both back then and today. Have a nice day and leave me alone

Years ago I watched a TED about DID and social media, where the doctor reminded his colleagues to stay with the books and that people with DID have a tendency to hold back, hide and only come with depression or anxiety issues to the therapy. Not with " I have DID". That Patients usually don't show up with an extraordinary style and switches (the most valuable state), sometimes it is only seen years in therapy. Exactly like Dr Robinson said as well. Great that there are many doctors speaking out publicly.

The first lesson the teacher told us in mental health class is to never self-diagnose yourself. This was before social media became mainstream. That teacher must be facepalming so hard right now.

I remember when I first found DID's channel. I thought that the recorded videos are related to the memory loss and an attempt to leave a notes for yourself on what's going on with the shared body. But every "did" person on the internet is more focused on cosplaying than the fact that you can't remember most of your life. they are constantly co-piloting and aware of every persona which even TV doesn't do to this extreme.

It really pisses me off how they all say it's to "raise awareness" and "destigmatize DID". How exactly are you doing that, ma'am? by further feeding into the misconceptions around a severe disorder?. Showing how it's easy to switch and know every single detail of their alters, promoting self diagnosis and questionable advice to deal with the symptoms, it's all so gross and attention seeking. Like, thirsting for the validation of literal strangers on the internet, which fair enough, we all kind of seek one way or another but exploting a mental problem to achieve that? damn. That is bottom dweller kind of shit imo. Low key happy that she did not finish her psychology studies. Imagine the sort of therapist she would be. YIKES.

I did a lot of research of DID in in 2019 and I remember in 2020 when a lot of minors suddenly had it and were claiming they had 400 fictional alters, whenever I’d call it out for being obviously fake as u can’t get diagnosed as a child I’d be called ableist by these kids and honestly, I think this YouTube channel and Anthonys video on it unintentionally was a huge play in that rise in people faking it

don't have DID but do have a disassociation disorder in which i kinda just black out when dealing with super stressful things. i remember when it first started happening i'd cry because I was so scared, i was literally bed bound for like a year cause it was a cycle; i'd get stressed, trigger it, get more stressed. ppl like this make me afraid to even mention it to friends because the word disassociation is so heavily associated to the tik tok ppl that do this
