LLMs are significantly more capable at generating output that convinces the user it's a high quality response that makes sense, than they are at generating output that actually is high quality and makes sense.
As with anything, if you don't put in effort then you won't value the result. Too many people see these tools as a means to an end. I see them as a hindrance to my own personal satisfaction with the effort I put in versus the reward I get. I won't grow as a developer. I won't take pride in my creation. I may not even know how the thing I 'produced' functions. What's the point if there is no personal fulfillment or improvement?
Holy fuck it's so true. As a programmer that's been breaking from the game since 2023 I feel crazy by the average persons opinion on chatGPT, including very otherwise intelligent people. Maddening.
It's pretty amazing that natural language processing is solved. It's not perfect but neither are humans. Just because it's not the solution to every problem, I don't want to take away from how impressive LLMs are.
