Honkai(本懐) means a heartfelt wish without lies, deceit or embellishment. Miku's lyrics express words that come from the heart, but the content is abstract.

And this why we have started calling this duo the "Thunder Buddies"!

For many of us, this band has re-arranged our brain in multiple ways as to song composition. I never (as in EVER) thought I'd like music with poppy sounding catchy choruses. But there is so much creativity, complexity and musicianship throughout both the execution and the composition that they just blow me away. Even re-listening to the same song 100 times, it's like it's the first time I'm hearing it every time. So much I notice that just delights the senses!! They are just a joy to behold.

Our maids never cease to amaze, po!

You can normally tell a Miku lyric from a Saiki Lyric. This was a typical Miku song. Very much a break away from being trapped in a boring relationship or life,  off to be independent and make a mark in the World. 'you will forget about me someday'. Knowing that independence from the normal is what will work best and not to conform. I always think Miku would change the World for the better given half a chance.

The beauty of this band is taking is their ability to add pop, the popularity, easily attainable, catchy, something anybody can get along to while never losing the complexity. You can easily hum the melody while still being awestruck by the instrumentation and never feeling like one is hurting the other or that they are anything other than working together. Now, if you really want a blend in genres, go ahead and search for the Corallium / Hibana Band-Maid live video 2024.

That my friends is one of the best rythym sections on planet earth.

Kanami - song structure what's that......I do want I want ok 😂😂

This isn't for an anime and they did whatever they wanted, telling a emotional, powerful story. Band-Maid is a rock-core band with pop sensibility who adds elements of whatever they think necessary to express the music.
Their anime songs still have the progressive/experimental edge but maybe less playful?

I think you'll love Giovanni if you enjoyed this song.

That's Band Maid for you, just when you think you know what they're going to do they change it up. One of the hallmarks of Band Maid is the mixing of styles and genres, while giving their all for the fans. Check out more!

The best thing about attending a live Band-Maid concert (I've been to two) is that they always add an unexpected solo or conversation/duels at each show. That keeps each show interesting and unique.

....and the Maidiac attempt to convert Liam and Mika to: BAND-MAID

Thank you for reacting to more BAND-MAID 😊🥰

Great reaction and you're not alone in your feelings about their music making you feel good - their rock is smile rock and bet you can't listen to any Band-Maid song and not smile. They do have a number of anime songs, the last two were openings for the anime "Zenshu" with the song "Zen" and their latest is the opening song for "Rock is a ladies Modesty" and the song is "Ready to rock".  Thanks for continuing to react to Band-Maid.

Band-Maid, the masters of blending musical styles. If you want to hear a little gritty grungy Band-Maid try Rinne.

This song was recorded during the time of quarantine along with other songs from the Unseen World album. Some of the songs on that album reflect the restrictions and enforced separation of that time, and the desire to return to the freedom of earlier times.

I love the lyrics during the post-chorus, especially the way Saiki conveys emotion: 'If I had been a smart cookie, would I have made a better smile?' Having watched the documentary about Saiki, I felt that these lyrics were about her.

It's all rock and roll.

Thanks for the reaction! (Thanks, Bill!)

Every Band-Maid song, new or old, rings out with new and innovative riff and chord structures, beat patterns and fills, vocal runs, backups, melodies and lyrics. The Maids continue to pack so much into their songs without them feeling cluttered, repetitive or overplayed. Their composition and execution is always refreshing and amazing to witness and hear. Once again, the supreme Maids -- Kanami, Saiki, Miku, Akane and MISA -- push their contributions to exciting, new levels of writing, playing and performance! We are so lucky to be living in the age of Band-Maid!🤘🎀🤘 Thx, Liam & Mika!

Greetings from France:
Great analysis, Mika, thank you...
Indeed, I could be wrong, but in Japan, the condition of women is still difficult (compared to some Western countries). And I wonder if these women's lyrics aren't a bit of a reaction to these conditions. After all, they can say that they are fully successful in their lives as women, and that these songs are intended to encourage people (men and women) not to let themselves be dominated and to take control of their future and their lives... I want to believe that.
Through sheer willpower, and because they believe in themselves, they managed early in their careers to impose their desires in the face of their managers' reluctance. And today, they have their own production company, they are completely independent, they manage their entire career (they even hired some staff from their former production company; it's a backlash [c'est le retour de bâton], as they say in my country...).
(I hope I'm not being too confusing, English is not my native language... Thank you for your understanding)
