As someone who makes windows and doors professionally and struggles to find youngsters who are interested in learning the trade, it’s great to see someone showing such enthusiasm and pride in doing quality work. If the industry had more Elliots, it would be in a far better position. All too often now, trades have become installers of ready made products because cost overrides all other considerations, which is what we are teaching apprentices, great to see true craftsmanship.

Why is everyone calling out Eliot because of his age/young appearance, he's clearly very talented! Let's support that!

Great work Elliot and Robin. You could use a squaring rod to check both openings quickly, also don’t have to worry about getting glue on your square. Just a long small piece of timber with nail in one end and a pencil mark where the internal corner meets the rod. Spin it round to place the nail in the opposite corner and the pencil marks should match if square 👍

This brought a smile to my face as I watched two professionals working together.

A little tip that may help: rare earth magnets to hold the bag on the extractor. Then fiddle with the metal strap (and try not to let that stick to the magnets).  ;-)

For that adjustable groover just grab a Vernier caliper and add shims to the thickness you want to add and hey presto..we use whitehill cuttters and they're awesome .great company to deal with too.

Takes me back to making replacement doors where I lived in East Sheen, had my own bench setup in the garage next door, old boy rented it to me cheaply, I made a large double gates on the top of Sheen Lane outside the Park Gates on corner of Fife Road, in  1990 , All mortice and tenon they were tongue, groove cladded, finished in Saddle brown, gloss, after being knotted, primed, and undercoated. I was well happy with them and they were still looking good in 2010, but new owners had steel automatics fitted. I had 3" wheels fitted with metal strap to the back the closing stiles, so they rolled back when opened and closed with ground bolts too, as they were heavy gates with old cast iron drop on hinges.😊I'd have loved to work like Eliot with a workshop and all the gear, he's a fine lad.
