What do you think SNOZZCUMBERS taste like? 👀🤢

@Wolfcreed117 6 months ago (edited)

Fun fact: The animators of the old BFG movie originally made Sophie like she was in the book, with long blonde hair. Then they seen Roald's granddaughter (who was visiting the set), and the animators got the idea to make the cartoon Sophie look more like his granddaughter. Which Roald thought was a nice touch.

The censoring is truly insane. The people who did that probably have their brain melted during just a normal, informal conversation.

The Big FUCKING Gun.
Wait..

I'm nothing like you. I'm a 41 year old man listening to a 31 year old man reading a childrens book

dang, the line "Look at what you has done, there be no forgiveness" actually hit me like a truck. they succeeded in what they were trying to get us to feel about that nightmare

The messed up origin of the BFG:

Once upon a time on the planet of Mars, the scientists of the Union Aerospace Program decided, “wouldn’t it be fun if we created a gun that fired a massive ball of plasma that destroys everything in its path?” It wasn’t just a gun that they had created, they had created a big gun, a big f**king gun. Dubbing this weapon of mass destruction, the BFG-9000.

whispers wait what do you mean it’s not talking about the BFG from Doom? What else would it be….ohhhhhhhhhh

Say what you want about the BFG movie, but that scene where the everyone broke the wind after drinking the Whizzpopper, especially the Queen herself, really got me chuckled. After all, it's glummy!

My dyslexia had me read that as “GBF. Gay best friend”. I shook my head in real life 😂

Roald Dahl's stories are a cornerstone of my childhood. His more frank, non-sugar-coated and unpatronising writing style was refreshing compared to a lot of other children's authors at the time. Me and my brother also had a lot of the stories on tape which we listened to all the time. Dahl definitely contributed to developing our dark senses of humour.

If anyone gets the chance, please read Dahl's adult short stories he wrote before he started writing children's books. They are incredible on the whole and really dark.

Mr. Jon Solo, you also forgot that one disturbing, dark scene that was left out in both adaptations. That being is the scene where at one point after the giants are left in the hole, a group of people are seen leaving from what appears to be a bar, because they are both drunk. And one of them gets the clever idea to climb over the fence and fell in…Which then less to a might roar of the giants, and chewing on the bones of the screaming people. Later that next day, two police officers (I assume it was police officers), who are seen standing by, and hanging up a sign that says “Please Do Not Feed The Giants!” due to the death of the two people who thought it would’ve been fun to climb over the fence and down into the hole where the child and man-eating giants were.

Oh my God Gunther's so cute

@Mr.EmeraldTheGreen 6 months ago

All that sensoring is just STUPID. Plain and simple. I could understand if it used truly offensive language. It then again in today’s world, the STUPID AND COMPLETELY ASNINE OVER SENSORSHIP is WAAAAAAY out of control.
And on a side note,,,,,, the word “snozzcumber” made my already filthy mind go right to the gutter 😕

Roald Dahl's The BFG (1982) is dedicated to his daughter, Olivia, who died at age seven in 1962 from measles encephalitis before a vaccine was available. Following her death, Dahl became a passionate advocate for vaccination, writing an open letter in 1986 urging parents to immunize their children, calling it "a crime" to leave children unvaccinated.

I am surprised that you didn't bring up this.

You should do a video of Dahl's Revolting Rhymes.
