Mesmer skin is so strong it doesn't just outshine Rev's other abilities, it outshines ALL other survivability options. The only downside is needing to play rev to use it.

I LOVE Reave, like no joke, my favorite helminth ability. The movement tech you can pull off with it if you have good casting speed and are able to whip your camera around tight corners makes it feel like instant transmission. And then, if you stack enough power strength (or snatch a roar buff off one of your teammates) it can 2 or even sometimes 1 shot enemies through their defenses because it does true damage. Additionally, it is a gem for frames that lack good survivability, having it make you invulnerable for the duration whilst also taking health from enemies you dash through. PLUS if you really want to, you can use it as your shield gate ability because of its decent energy cost you will gain a good chunk of your shields back initially and then can regen more while your invulnerable.

I got a friend to play Warframe, and Revenant Prime is one of the frames I traded him to get started on. It took us one week to unlock Steel Path for him, but he constently dies, every mission. I advise him to play Revenant to stay alive, but he states that he's to boring to even make a build on him.

He's right, new players would rather die and fail in missions than play a boring frame.

He's in the worst state a frame can be in: being known for one super strong ability so they get ignored by the devs for 5+ years.
It's more tragic because Revenant was the first frame Rebecca had her hand in mid-development, which is why he's a weird mix of vampire and Eidolon, and his sleep AoE ultimate was replaced with laser beams.

As a Revenant player from his launch (and arguably his earlier tennocon/devstream reveal) up until Pablo unveiled he was popular (I'm largely a solo player I always leaned into every ability despite meta), it's amazing how much of his kit changed and largely ended up being fine until the addition of the Mesmer Skin cooldown, before that, his thralls acted as a buffer between enemies and his mesmer skin charges since a single volley of gunfire directly to him could remove entire stacks of it when it no longer had a timer. Once they added the cooldown, all the weird synergies they tried before that were just kept and it's been the way he has been because of it.

I'm glad you picked up on his thralls being a resource for him, I always joked he was the "Hostile Workplace Manager" fantasy since his kit revolved around hiring people and stabbing them in the back the moment their usefulness was up.

I think changing mesmer skin the way you changed it would just end up as a lukewarm 'ability as a passive' though, very few frames have this kind of invincibility after all the reworks that have existed, and as you pointed out, a fair amount of warframes have invincibility through other means these days. I would rather have the second long cooldown removed than give up what mesmer skin is, either that or focusing on having the multiple synergies grow in strength as the charges get lower to help incentivize getting Revenant into the fight or have mesmer simply incentivize being more active the longer/more charges a player has.

I'll fight you on the Danse Macabre change though, I would rather have the ability to hold-cast like a channeled version of Prism from Mirage, let the laser continue during Revenant's roaming, it helps him continue to stay engaged with the enemy if the lasers continue to emit from above him like some of the sentients do when they laser about, but also incentives him to get up and into the fight to build up the damage buff for their Danse lasers. I initially hoped Revenant would be an aimed laser Warframe and then that all went to Wisp, Caliban and Qorvex so that's my self indulgent change.

Along with the bright puddle, his passive should also have an eidolon shard with his primary colors floating above it, with the puddle having his energy color, for his teammates to have an easier time finding it in different lightings

revenant also brings up something i want from warframe, since they have started standardizing all headshots/weakpoints and damage types

i want possessed/sideswapped/enthralled/allied/whatever to have additional effects on them that show "this is an ally" as well as bullets not striking or damaging them and the final caveat of these enemies (when the ability expires) being knocked down so they don't instantly fry you
