Personally, i really love when those figures are looking like this, simply painted, clear and realistic looking, i usually dislike when figures at this scale have that cartoonish look with outlines or even whites in the eyes it just looks kinda eh to me, but yours are just a pleasure to look at, cant wait to try this technique myself and ofc for another figure painting video!

Nice work. I built a load of Tamiya 1/35th German Military models during the 70's and 80's. Can't anymore, sadly. Failing eyes and arthritic hands ended my modelling hobby. I do miss it though. it was always so very relaxing/therapeutic.

Honestly I am not even joking, your painting is a thing of magic. The mins of you just applying such brilliant painting and the process you use to go with it. It is absolutely fantastic! I will definitely use those steps. Also I completely agree with you. The painting of Tamiya figures are so good for the price you pay for them, if only my painting was better then it is right now.

Great video. The mini looks great man. As a kid in the late 70's and early 80s i loved browsing and trying my hand at Tamiya WWII minis. My Dad was actually stationed in Japan for 6 months back then and I was in heaven living in Japan and going to the local hobby shop where there was an ocean of Tamiya models to check out. As a kid I had as much fun looking at the amazing looking Tamiya boxes and browsing all the wonderful Tamiya models as I did building and painting them.

Just goes to show for that there are infinite ways to paint a great looking miniature. Probably will never see it, but would love to see plastics of this scale and quality in other historical periods; Greeks, Romans, Medieval, Napoleonic’s, Civil War, etc. Traditionally I’ve painted 28mm, and today’s plastics have never looked better, but l don’t game, so 1/35 scale with all that extra detail would be absolutely amazing.

Every few years Tamiya puts out a kit that sets a new standard within their own 1/35 MM range. I thought it was the US Scouts set which was also amazing, but with where this kit took it, I think we have our generation-changer.

The specification of it being a mid-war MG team is important for the painting, as the early-war Heer uniform had the same steingrau trousers that the Reichswehr had issued in 1922; the M40 and M42 trousers (different patterns) were produced in the same feldgrau as the tunic, presumably to make supplying fabric simpler. It was possible, though, to find soldiers in the old steingrau trousers throughout the war, as old stocks were issued until they ran out when supplies of the newer trousers were unavailable, but the feldgrau trousers were the most common.

I may have previously commented on this video...but...this is crazy good, I mean insanely good (and I ought to know, because I'm insane). I'll be honest, I'm only a moderately, just okay builder with a vast amount of experience at being a mediocre builder. I have come back to this video several times just to enjoy watching someone "knock it out of the ballpark".
