This was the very first film I ever saw on the Big Screen, aged only 10..to see it I had to be accompanied by an adult.

You will notice they talk with that mood of "I was in the Service and these are somes of the way we chatted and gave commands" . It wasnt dull script written . Very natural displays

Remember seeing this in the sixties on our b&w television as a kid. I was very impressed

I love these old WW2 desert films. Mainly because my dad had served with the 8th Army in North Africa during the war, before then heading over to Italy.

Always great to run across a film from this era that I never knew of before. Lots of dependable character actors. Attenborough is more of a character actor here even though he gets top billing.

A great little film, I've watched it about six times.

My Dad took me to see it at our local Gaumont in 1958. For some reason, the scene of the windswept graves
always troubled me, it's always stuck in my mind.

I just remembered trying to find googles for driving 1/4 tons with the glass down on exercise in the reserves. Even in Canada where some tourists think we ski all year, try finding ski googles in a sporting goods store in July. Took me driving to half a dozen stores (in 1970) and a lot of strange looks from clerks, to find even one pair they scrounged out of the back. Add a face scarf and I was all proper "Rat Patrol" lol.
