From Dissatisfaction to Liberation: Dukkha, the Four Noble Truths, and Bahá’í Spiritual Healing
Series “The Roots of Awakening: Spiritual Continuity Between Buddhism and the Bahá’í Faith” – Session 2
Welcome to this second exploration in our series dedicated to the dialogue between Buddhism and the Bahá’í Faith. Tonight, we delve into the heart of Dukkha, often translated as “suffering,” but which actually refers to the subtle and universal dissatisfaction inherent in all conditioned existence. Far from being a pessimistic observation, Dukkha is the clear-sighted diagnosis that opens the door to true spiritual healing.
🔍 In this study, we explore:
The true nature of Dukkha: far beyond physical pain, it is the structural dissatisfaction linked to impermanence and attachment
The three faces of Dukkha: visible suffering, the suffering of change, and the latent emptiness that leads us to seek fulfillment in the wrong place
The Four Noble Truths as a therapeutic path: recognizing the symptom, identifying the root cause (Taṇhā), affirming the possibility of healing, and applying the remedy
The luminous convergence of the Bahá’í Faith: how detachment, prayer, work elevated to the level of worship, and collective counseling become true “medicine for the soul”
Practical tools for everyday life: cultivating mindfulness, transforming attachment into detachment, and making every trial a catalyst for growth and service
💡 This presentation is a practical guide to transforming dissatisfaction into inner freedom, and suffering into A force of love and unity.
