My sister received a call that our uncle, our mother's brother, had died. The next morning my sister went to tell our mom and found that she had had a major stroke. Mom went to the hospital and into hospice so we never told her her brother had died. At the very end of Mom's life she asked my sister why Eddie was there.  She had no idea that he had died.

In 1956, Mom's favorite uncle died in Cookeville, TN. Dad and Mom lived in Nineveh, Indiana. She heard a knock on the door, and looked out through the window and saw her uncle. As she opened the door, no one was there. She called out to him. Didn't see his car in the drive. When she shut the door, the phone rang. It was her aunt calling to tell her that he had just died. What she saw an a crisis apparition.

Here's an interesting one: this happened in Calabar, Nigeria, in the early eighties. My brother was a student at the state polytechnic. He said he was at a boisterous students' party where at some point a particular chap was whisked off the floor by friends and twirled head over heels to riotous cheers from the rest. The fellow meanwhile was squealing to be let down, when suddenly he was dropped and landed with an audible crump on his head. He immediately slumped lifeless on the floor and pandemonium broke out. Every effort to revive him was made, but to no effect; and someone or the other even confirmed he was no longer breathing. Even more panic ensued, and a girl ran to fetch a pail of water which she upended over the supine body.

Right then, it was observed he twitched. Not long after and he was sitted, looking dazed, on the floor and muttering a story that my brother said was the strangest he'd ever heard. The lad claimed that soon after the fall, he suddenly felt himself  levitated to the ceiling where he hung, watching the panicky room under him. He recapped everything that had happened in the room, the comments made, the panicking, his body lain there, and the moment he was drenched with water. Not one detail, said my brother, was inaccurate. As the water splashed, he said he felt himself tugged back into his body.

My brother said after that no one felt the need to continue with the partying.

We are eternal!

Years ago, a few weeks after my wife's mother had passed away, we were having a discussion one night about my wife's mother's maiden name. We finally agreed upon a certain name. In the middle of the night during my normal restless time, my wife's mother was standing next to our bed, very young and healthy, and she told me the actual name. In the morning, as soon as we both awoke, I just blurted out to my wife the actual name we had gotten wrong. My wife asked me why I said the name so abruptly. I told her it was because her mom told me in the night. I said it so quickly and naturally that I didn't even take into account she was passed. Once it hit us, we laughed and cried, and my wife wanted to know exactly what I saw and heard. What I described to her was a description I could have never known unless I had seen teenaged era pictures of my mother in law. I had never seen those pictures.

n 1969 My Mom's heart stopped in hospital whilst me and my Dad was visiting her.  We were rushed out of the ward and they had to resuscitate her.  She was clinically dead and her heart started beating again after being defibrillated. She was clinically dead for 3 minutes. Afterwards she told us about her experience in heaven and could describe it in detail.  Since childhood, this was quite normal for our family.  My Mom was a devout Christian and not prone to any flights of fantasies, thus I believed her.

I enjoy listening to Gary so much; his discussions on the resurrection and NDs helped me a lot when my child passed. He also shares how the evidence for resurrection comforted him when his first wife died, and I could relate.

Although not a NDE but a possible angelic/Holy Spirit encounter.  My husband had an interesting experience a few days after very serious heart surgery.  He was hesitant to tell me about it because he thought I would have thought he might be a bit cuckoo.  He was on no pain meds and completely awake.  He saw a bright glowing white bird shape come into his hospital room and hovered over him for a minute or so, then "flew" to the window in a slow meandering fashion and left in a brilliant explosion that lit up the whole window.  He said the experience left him with a sense of peace.  I have NO reason to doubt his account of what happened.  That was almost eight years ago and his story has never changed and he is doing very well.

If you've ever sat with a dying person, held their hand and prayed over them, you know when the time comes, someone is there to come get them. I had a father in law, in a coma, sit up, hold out his hands, look at me, smile and say goodbye, eyes closed the entire time, then die, you know they've gone somewhere special. I believe it to depths of my soul.

Dr. Habermas's first story reminded me of one from my youth. A close family friend named Bob (my parents' age) had a massive heart attack. While on the operating table, he was clinically dead for several minutes. During that time, he described himself as floating at ceiling level while hearing and seeing everything that was going on. They shocked his heart three times, and on the last attempt he returned to his body. He had no further memories until he came back to consciousness hours later. He was unsaved when this happened, and as soon as he regained consciousness, he immediately tried to get off the bed and onto his knees. The nurse restrained him, but he insisted that he had to kneel down and pray for salvation right that second! He did come to faith, and lived a few more years with a wonderful testimony. And when he shared this with the surgeon, he was met with doubt...until he described every person in the OR, where they stood, what their job was, and the conversations they had.

Gary is extremely sensible, and I really appreciate that.

When my dad died in 2021 every day for a week before he passed, he kept saying that my maternal grandparents had already passed  and his parents, who passed years ago are calling him to come with them. We did not believe him since his a joker, but he died on  friday morning.

@55 talking about prayer. Carolyn Myss tells of a lady who told her she died in a car crash and went up out of her body listening to all the people in their cars mad and complaining about the delay but heard one lady asking God to help the person in the crash. She noticed the license number before she was whisked back in her body. After being in a coma several months she woke up remembering the praying lady and the plate number. She got the address from the dmv (yes it’s an old story) and brought flowers and thanked the lady for her prayers. I told this story to kiddos when I subbed in a high school on nine eleven. Prayer matters.
