Come find me on Twitch and say Hi Hi! https://www.twitch.tv/angryowlcat

A comment from the original video, btw this was reuploaded.

"Women went to this challenge and expected a Vacation, what they got was a survival situation. Men went to this challenge and expected a survival situation, what they got was a vacation."

19:30 "Dudes usually don't argue..."
Weeeeell... they had their fair share of arguments and fights, but no matter how heated things became, they basically all but forgotten it the next day.
And about "alpha male". Each group had a survival expert, and received 2 hour crash course on survival. Men quickly appointed their survival expert as the leader, and followed his lead, while women bullied their survival expert to the point she gave up (the one who pointed out, that starving is not a good way  to lose weight), and some insisted on "collaborative lead", which was basically "I'll do what I want, and I'm not gonna listen to anyone else". Men had their moments too, but usually it was not "I'll do what I want", but rather "I'll do what I think is best for our survival even if you disagree"

The dudes did have one argument. When they found the net one guy wanted to repair it. The leader thought it was a waste of time because it was a Lot of work. The leader apologized when the net was done and worked. They were all bros once again

10:32 all they had to do was follow the coastline

Both teams had 2 weeks of survival training, 1 survival expert, 1 medical personnel, and 2 cameramen.

Men had much less help from staff. Women had handouts, "random" fishermen that gave them fishes. Even had 2 piglets without their mum on the island that became pets for a bit. In the end, their survival expert made them food, and then remains were stuffed into one of 2 water jerry cans, and meat went bad.

Men had some conflicts that made some to quit. They found a broken net, and one decided to fix it. Guys were convinced that it's not worth it and he is better to fish with them. But he successfully fixed it and they apologized for some bullying him

Crocodiles, Caymans and alligators have devastating bite forces, however the muscles used to open them is actually quite weak, the only real problem is by tying down the crocs mouth as fast and as tight as possible. Whilst one person controls the jaws by ensuring that they stay shut, a second person ties the mouth shut as well as to prevent the head from shaking about, the third and fourth, ensures that the croc doesn’t wiggle out or roll over and pin the animal in place, whilst the fifth, sixth and whoever’s left is to jump onto the tail, ensuring that the animal doesn’t smack someone in the face because a crocs tail is incredibly powerful and can easily break a bone if hit, due to the large amount of muscles in the base of their tails using like a whip, all the while making sure that the crocks mouth, feet and tail are properly secured, after that press the tip of the blade right behind where the eyes are right at the top of the spinal cord thus paralysing the creature and preventing further harm to everyone else,

10:50 Vic is my spirit animal :D

12:34 the reasons why the crocodil wasn't that dangerous are relatively simple. One person first controlled the mouth so that the others can approach. They then pushed the mouth closed, rendering the most dangerous part uneffective. While crocodils have an impressive biteforce, the muscles to open the mouth are pretty weak.

They were on different islands but they both had the same training the guys elected their survival expert as leader while the ladies argued and refused to elect a leader or listen to their survival expert.

The thing about crocs and gators is they have really strong muscles for closing their mouths but really weak muscles for opening their mouths; it takes much less effort to force it closed. As long as you have the support to keep it from wiggling free, you should be able to keep it from biting indefinitely. If you have the rope, tape or other functional restraint it will basically be helpless.

8:25 that's the saddest part about this competition
Both teams were appointed a survival expert before going to the island

Men appointed their expert as a leader and learned from him
Women bullied their expert off the island, because she had the audacity, to tell them what to do in order to survive

4:37 filtration is resource dependent:
-Straw or gravel
-Sand
-Charcoal
-Cotton balls or similar

Still have to boil.

Edit: 6:18 crabs would have to be cooked alive, otherwise it's a no-go ghost rider (bacterial proliferation and autolysis/digestive system breaking down can get some extremely ill)

2:45 both the teams got survival training before the show and there was also a survival expert on each team if i can remember correctly

Both teams were given suvival experts and both given a generally good spot to start out on the beach.

The women fought and talk their expert to stop bosing thing and the men immediately put their expert in charge. They also had shelter, food and water within a day and had to be stopped because the show runners were afraid they would destabilize the animal population on the island.

I learnt survival skills from a young age, I'd go fishing with my dad, get bored and wonder off to track animals eventually my dad thought me how to read a map so I wouldn't get lost, I was about 7 or 8. My tought me stuff whenever I need to know, when I got a bit older he'd drive me into the middle of nowhere and I'd have to navigate to to where he was fishing. Then in teens you spend a lot of time outside with the boys like "shall we go to where this is?" "Yeah why not" and then in college I spent 4 years being trained by the military so my survival skills improved again.

Most guys just know, it's weird. I would say if you're going to watch a video about survival, don't watch Bear Grylls, watch Outdoor Boys, Swap people is a good show to watch and there was dope show about tracking, Can't remember what it was called. The best teacher will always being going out and doing it yourself.

Survival skills is a wide category. If you want to learn I recommend picking up and mastering four basics. First how to start a fire without a lighter, men can do the spinning a stick option to generate friction for a spark, but that is hard, painful and takes a bit of stamina. For women it's usually easier to search for a pair of stones, preferably flint often seen near rivers, and strike them together to generate a spark. Still effort and can mash a few fingers, but much better for women. Also a few obvious things like don't start a fire on other burnable material you don't want to burn like a grass field.

Next is water purification it's a two part system, first is filtration, you stuff a variety of different sized things into a split open water bottle with the bottom facing down, the various rock, leaves, sand etc jams it ups allowing only the pure water through instead of particulants but you have to do it in a specific order. There are videos online that show how to do it. Second part is really easy, find a container for the water, put it next to the fire and wait for it to boil. Do not let it tip over like the girls in this did.

Third part is how to make a shelter. You have three goals for shelter, one it keeps you out of contact with the earth, as that can suck up heat. Two it is stable and won't fall over on you from a stiff breeze. Three it is compacted enough to not lose too much air heat to the outside environment. Which means you want something that is basically large enough you can crawl into and rotate from shoulders parallel to the ground to perpendicular to the ground without damaging the structure.

Final part is variable depending on what you have. If you are alone with basically no tools, figure out what plants, like those coconuts, are edible and how to prepare them. Same with smaller things that you can catch with your hands that aren't a threat to humans, like rock lizards. If you have a group, or a bow and arrow you can practice shooting to get good enough to hunt game, but that does require at least a 30 lb pull strength, which can be a lot for smaller women (no offense but you do give off adorable small girl vibes) which allows you to wound or kill an animal in one shot. It will either flee or charge which you can use basic branches with a pointy end as spears to then defeat it.

At least when it comes to navigating, there's a study that concluded that boys do better at navigation and spatial awareness than girls. It's not so pronounced at early ages, but the gap becomes wider the older both get. As for other aspects, the fact that men are more likely to take risks and greater strengths helps a lot.

4:38 To Purify Water have 3 methods for 3 Types of water

- Sea Water: Steam and Collect every single drop of clean water
- Dirty Water: using homemade Water Filter (Tissue for Final, cotton/cloth for 3rd Filter, Sand for 2nd Filter, Gravel for 1st Filter)
- River water: Boil it on campfire (hot Temperature kill bateries and germs)

safer option
- Coconut
- Water from the Mountain (if theres Mountain on the island)

There is a level of truth to the DNA comment. Men tend to learn survival skills like hunting, fishing, building, making potable water and trekking more naturally than women. Women tend to have finer mechanical skills that require closer focus like cooking, sewing, cleaning, gardening and nurturing.

Obviously these traits can be unisexual and anyone could have any combination of these. This is just a generalistic representation of what's typically found in natural behavior.
