Togore dreemurr is a product of collective psychosis by a fandom who wasnt even starved for content. in fact when he hit the big time they had been recently been fed till its stomach broke the belt buckle. Togore started as an incredibly whimsical little joke that was hard and probably never intended to be taken seriously, but with time screeched to heavens "I want to be real" and the community made it so. Today I do my best to tell his story, in all its fragmented parts.

I remember one day I decided to make a togore theme that was just a shitty version of bad romance, and in the song I recorded a voiceline of myself saying "togore-tastic"

People were using that one writing fire gif in the comments and quoting "togore tastic" and people seemed to love it so much that it became his officially accepted catchphrase

I still cant believe I impacted the meme as much as I did lol

i love the take of togore ive seen in certain deltarune-focused comics, as the autistic middle child with an interest in "gross" things like bugs and parasites, and tends to be overlooked. it kinda reminds me of me as a kid. hes togore-tastic!

edit: oops, thats miggs comics. i wasnt far enough in the video to notice lol

Togore as a character serves a facinating role, he's simultaneously a self insert and a pre-existing character, which allows you to make him whatever your story need, while having someone recognizable, Togore as a character would be ruined if he actually was a character. His charm in all these fanfics, all his stories, is that he only exist to slot into a role, he's an older brother, a supportive friend, a welcome son, a punching bag, a joke, whatever you think is necissary. While everyone else is properly machined to fit in certain roles, Togore is playdoh, just there to fill whatever gap you need. He's literally fanfic incarnate, thats why he's so Togore'tastic.

love how chester also being a mass hallucination isn't mentioned even once. he's just there

I always imagined Togore or the other fanmade characters almost as reverse goners, characters that shouldn’t exist yet somehow force themselves into a world not meant for them yet still making it work. While a goner can exist or not in a world and make no difference characters like Togore simply being absent from a world that never intended for their existence feels like something is missing..perhaps you are forgetting someone that never existed to begin with yet.

“Jokes that became more” stories always hit me in a weird way because it’s oddly relatable. No one chooses to exist, which forces us all to carve out our own meaning. To come from nothing is to be human, and these stories exemplify that. Togore doesn’t exist because he means something profound, or important. He exists because we wanted him to, because we saw the forgotten middle child of the Dreemurrs and made sure to remember him.

24:41 Kardboardian here. Holy crap, genuinely wasn't expecting me to appear while watching this. Thanks so much for loving the work, and loving Togore as much as we all do.

Love that Kwite spent more time dissecting a completely nonchanonical singular character in a game than the entirety of any single episode of TADC. ADHD hyperfixations are just like that

@Djra_g 11 months ago

essentially, a reverse Mandela effect. we brought him into existence knowingly

I love how the ship between Togore and Chester is called Toster. It's an absurd idea built upon an absurd presumption.

29:40 I think that sums up how I feel about Togore, He doesn't fix anything, but he makes everything feel okay

I love how togore went from being a weird joke to basically canon XD

@rompevuevitos222 11 months ago

Toby went on and on about how "the world is as big as you want it to be" before releasing the ultimate lore drop that confirmed half of the theories people have had for years.

He wants us to stay creative, but still had the kindness to finally give us closure on the smaller details.

15:16 Oh that's (to)gore of my comfort character

@LennoxParsec 11 months ago

I feel incredible interested in how, since some of Togore's introvert-hyperfixtated traits overlaps with Kris, A LOT of comics potraying the two makes Kris way more sided to their "gobblin side"; a lot of artists had silently agree in twisting a bit a canon character - the protagonist of the game, that is - to make room for Togore in the Dreemuur Kids trio with well defined personality traits.

Fascinating. Very, very interesting.

I'm sure nobody will see this, but to add onto the Togore torture, the Dreamers are boss monsters. They don't age after adulthood unless they have a child. So both of his once enteral parents will die because of his existence. Furthermore, they are the only boss monsters in the underground. Meaning that Togore will never age, just be alive while watching all of loved ones wither away.
