The OG Captain Price, back when he was John Mullins

I remember my dad wouldn't let me get Blood when I was a kid, but he was as excited as me to get SOF because it looked so badass

"Excuse me Mister Hussein, I need the general alive..." –John F. Mullins

"You killed muh friend."
"YOU KILLED MAH BRODAH~!!!"

I do think youre overstating how common these sort of damage engines are in games, we dont see that many games with character animations and dismemberment this interactive. Theres a guy who does really good videos on the topic if you look up gore reviews on YouTube and he goes into depth on what these games did right and the few modern games that do as good of a job, like red dead 2

Raven software also made some of the star wars dark forces games, they're one of my favorite studios besides pandemic

Going to a strip club and reading a magazine sounds like an absolute Chad move

I also think soldier of fortune was controversial because people tend to react more to violence when its more realistic, like how people flinch during the torture scene in gta v but laugh when doom guy bonks a demon in the head And it caves in

SoF: Double Helix was one of my first fps games i had on a broken down desktop pc. Them memories^^

"It just hits you on the nostalgia spot " Got me so good, best way to describe the game.

I miss games like this, especially FPS ones from the late 1990s to early 2000s.

Soldier of Fortune 1 is hands down the best of the series! I remember that after Half-Life and after Rainbow Six, I felt like games were heading into two directions: story-rich shooters with puzzle elements (Half-Life) or tactical shooters (Rainbow Six) but Soldier of Fortune was a fast-paced run-and-gun, basically Doom with terrorists!

Soldier of Fortune 1 is the R rated action movie
Soldier of Fortune 2 is the more serious "Tom Clancy" thriller, which is not bad, but not as good as 1
Soldier of Fortune 3 is the terrible direct to video "Asylum-esque" rip-off, lol

"I kinda wonder how good his 3rd base game is..." These are the comments I come to your reviews to hear.

'Kingpin' & 'Soldier of Fortune', perfect.

I remember they enlisted a true soldier of fortune as a technical adviser, too bad it’s been delisted now

Still feels more brutal and violent than any modern shooter out there, where any brutality against another human being you can see is limited to some mild cutscenes. I don't get this comparison to puppies fighting, considering how super-tame games are nowadays. All gory games are limited usually to demons or zombies. Some won't even give you any wound decals not to mention a full model of an exit wound or a functional dismemberment. Soldier of Fortune 2 has it all nailed! Current games look like kittens in comparison.

"When you say Raven software most people are going to think of the Call of Duty games but chadgamers are also going to remember they worked on some of the best first person shooters ever made."

Gmanlives: "When you say raven software most people think of cod".
Me: "where's my singularity sequel?"

Raven games had this extra polish and quality to them that others simply lacked. I loved their Games!
