It was always going to be a fairy tale dream to win. If I were a new coach and had to build a team from just the Roosters and Knights teams (position to position), the team would be all Roosters. There would be only one clear-cut exception: I would take Bradley Best over Billy Smith. I have no idea how the Roosters manage to remain under the salary cap, but it is an impressive team.
Newcastle first try on the back of a penalty that was not a penalty and the Ponga scores when he should have been in the bin for direct contact with the head.
I don't want to be that guy , but the Knights went wayyy overboard during the week with the hype . They carried on after last weeks win as if they had won the Grand Final and it was non stop from the fans , ex players and the Knights official FB page. The celebrations and tears were well spent before kick off . This of course took most of the spotlight off the Roosters and they focused on what they were aiming on doing , winning the Grand Final.
Knights were valiant on defense and deserve plaudits for sure, but if you actually watch the Roosters attack, it was incredible abysmal....
That much territory, that many extra metres, that many less mistakes and only ONE linebreak & a total of three tries, one of which took some crazy double kick ..
I think the roosters are lucky they didnt play any other top 6 side last night, theyd have lost for sure.
Knights couldnt handle the metres they were eating up in the first 4 tackles but the last 2 tackles for roosters were amongst the worst i have seen.
I honestly think any other top team puts 40 on the knights with those stats. At least would have 5 or 6 linebreaks or more
