Another day out metal detecting in Scotland with John, ‪@thescottishdetectorist‬  and this is a field that has some serious potential!
John has previously discovered Roman denarii here, along with an early 1700s silver coin from the reign of Queen Anne, and we believe an old route may once have crossed this ground, possibly with connections going back to the Roman period.

This time it was my turn to have a very productive day. Among the finds were coins from different reigns.

Best of all, TWO silver coins came out of the ground!

And judging by what has already been discovered here, we had the feeling that something much older could still be waiting beneath our feet…
This hunt would turn out to be just a taste of what this ground had in store for us.
