I remember an old news some time ago of a possible arrival of the RS5 and the M4 DTM for the GT500, the first was initially supposed to be managed exclusively by Hitotsuyama without the support of Audi and with the 2019 technical specifications and not with those of 2020 (last season of the DTM with the Class One regulations shared with the SGT), then nothing came of it because Hitotsuyama was not convinced of the performance that the RS5 could give against the more updated GT500s, the M4 on the other hand had a more concrete project, BMW after the 2020 DTM season, wanted to continue with the Class One program in the SGT for 2021, but they didn't do so due to those minimal differences in the regulations and, in short, they didn't want to modify it to adapt it to the GT500 regulations.
