Aired June 25, 1993. Recorded in SP and Hi-Fi stereo from KCRA in Sacramento with a roof antenna, includes all commercials including complete breaks before and after the show. Mastered in 60fps, of course. It wasn’t til I uploaded this that I noticed that nasty line on the screen, will have to check this on another machine.

The old NBC show was as great as TV ever got in this country.

This makes me long for the old days of late night tv. Johnny Carson followed by David Letterman it doesn't get much better than that.

The two biggest blunders in television history:
1. Choosing Leno over Letterman
2. Choosing Leno over Conan O’Brien

His first joke is an homage to Johnny's last monologue's first joke being "Employee of the Month"

I watched this and the first show on CBS, when they originally aired. And most every episode he ever broadcast from 1988 and on.
Seeing this again tonight, with all the commercials intact, it was so wonderfully entertaining & nostalgic.

NBC dropped the ball when they chose Jay Leno as permanent host of The Tonight Show over David Letterman

its crazy to know that conan was in his office upstairs, knowing that as soon as this show was over, the pressure was all on him

What a trip down memory lane. GE wouldn't let Paul keep the name The World's Most Dangerous Band. And I remember well the welcoming GE fruit basket. This video is a treasure.

I rarely glimpsed tv except while visiting my parents. My dad taped David Letterman every night. He would show me funny things. I am smiling to see again the ice skating . I love it. And the other thing I remembered seeing was Dave in the Velcro suit stuck to the wall. So glad to see that again. Thank you.

Letterman got the last laugh. When he went to CBS, he owned his show. His company is Worldwide Pants and produced his own show, Ray Romano’s and others. At first, he was beating Leno and even when he wasn’t, he was consistently getting more revenue from advertisers. They were staunch loyal to Letterman. Same with his guests. Look at his final show and the top 10 list, with all the celebs. Letterman is King!

Dave had always wanted to have Springsteen on,but figured that he would never get the chance. IIRC, Bruce agreed to do the last show on one condition - that his appearance not be announced beforehand
