By touching upon themes such as social disconnection and human suffering, this show is probably the most complex and dark show that Cirque du Soleil has done.
This is by far my favorite Cirque show. I remember being 16 and seeing it for the first time in 1996. The moment in the beginning when the living room (along with mom and dad) starts rising up was so overwhelming, I cried. It's still one of the most powerful experiences I've ever had at any theatrical performance or concert. I wish they still made shows like Quidam, but am also grateful that I was able to experience it in person and can relive that experience watching the video 28 years later.
This week, in december 2023, I watched this show with my daughter. It was amazing because I watched in 96, and I remember too many details, for example the last song. I got back that years for a moment… Great!
When I first saw this film as a child, I could never understand or appreciate the sheer strength these performers have, especially the balancing duo. That lady had to have kept herself lifted, perfectly straight, unmoving for a solid minute, and THEN some.
I remember New Years Eve 2000. when Bravo Channel would play these. I was about 7 years old and saw this for the first time. I was scared to death by the aesthetics but yet entirely fascinated. Cirque Du Soliel has definitely Been one of the biggest influences upon the actor/musician in me
This was an amazing show! Every act in it is excellent and the music and costumes were great! The aerial contortion in silk with the song Let Me Fall as a backdrop was worth twice the price of admission!! There is something timeless about it.
I have been working at Cirque for 20 years now. I have seen this company’s growth and downfall. It’s rebirth, and challenge to survive. Along the way came this gem of a show that certainly had propulsive power for Cirque. I remember doing my rounds outside the Big Top and always sneaking in to see parts of the show. Cirque was nearing its apex in terms of creativity in the early 2000 and continued to thrive until 2010. But nothing that came after, expect Kurios, directed by the amazing Michel Laprise, left an indelible mark on Cirque’s bill like Quidam did….
I saw Quidam live in Atlanta as a child. It was a core childhood memory for me. I literally turned to my mom and told her I no longer wanted to be a ballerina. I wanted to join the circus instead. It was just so magical to me, like glimpsing into another world.
This show struck me in ways I'm still resonating with. The headless passerby was something so striking, so prolific, so profound. An image that has stuck with me. It's crossed my path as an adult as a symbol for pure awareness, at once untampered by circumstance, and lead to gold by them as well. We are and can be the awareness the storm arises in, rather than a limited being by chance experiencing consciousness.
I had the pleasure of seeing this show live in Brazil in 2010, when I was 11 years old. It has left a lasting mark on my life ever since. It is my favorite Cirque du Soleil performance of all. Congratulations to all the artists who made up Quidam! Fantastic!!!
I was very fortunate to see this particular performance when my children were both in Primary School. When Quidam was performed down in Melbourne. I was totally in awe, we all were, speechless and transfixed on that spectacular performance taking place right in front of us. Such incredible talent. Brings back great memories.
