This episode… is literally special.
This time, Reckless Camp is in Cappadocia, but I'm not alone.
I have two of the most precious guests in my life with me:
My dear sons, Ömer Ayrık and Ferit Ayrık.
I picked up my children from Kayseri Airport and set off.
Actually, I'm making this video so they can look back on it someday and smile… but I wanted to share it with you too.
First thing on the way, we started discussing the camping plan with the question, "What are we going to cook today?"
We set up our camp in a scenic spot.
In a kitchen that was more comfortable than we're used to in our camping trips, with the help of Ömer and Ferit, we prepared a wonderful pasta and meatball dish and enjoyed it.
The dishes were washed by the one who drew the "short straw"… Guess who?
We ended the night early because we were going to leave for a hot air balloon tour at 4:30 am.
We ascended into the sky at sunrise…
Watching the sunrise over Cappadocia was indescribable.
I tried not to let on that my knees were trembling, but the feeling was extraordinary.
At the end of the tour, we received our medals.
We returned to the campsite, prepared our SpongeBob SquarePants toast, and enjoyed them.
After resting a bit, we set off again, this time to explore Cappadocia:
We visited the Three Beauties,
We went to Avanos and made pottery.
I put on my skirt and made a pot representing the flow of life.
Then Ferit took over and showed that he was his father's son.
He continued our family tradition of six-hole pottery.
The pottery champion of the day was Ömer Ayrık!
He wore his skirt like a pious aunt and completed the day with his potato-filled, ornate pitcher.
Afterwards, we visited Kayaşehir in Nevşehir.
This ancient city carved into the rock, discovered during urban transformation in 2014… was truly fascinating.
We returned to the campsite in the evening.
We had a sausage and salami party together.
Everyone pitched in, and we prepared the evening together in a cooperative effort.
We couldn't bear to leave the kitchen of our Airstream caravan, which provided us with comfort throughout the camping trip, untouched.
As always, we used our travel companion Asperox for cleaning.
The children fell asleep… but this video was recorded not just for them to sleep, but for them to grow.
Because I…
As a father who grew up without a father, I'm speaking to fathers:
Don't postpone doing things for your children.
Children…
Cherish every moment you spend with your family.
This episode is a memory, an adventure, a treasure trove of emotions for us…
I hope it will be a spark for you too:
To do something with your mother, father, children, whoever is dear to you…
With love,
Ilker Ayrık
