It’s not inflation, it’s opportunistic greed

The worst thing is, if any poor hard working member of the public was to scam, fraud or rob a shop. The system would be quick to take action against us.
Yet the system thinks it’s perfectly acceptable for supermarkets and food manufacturers to do it to us.

As a kid my parents always said "they don't make things as well as they used to", well that's never been more true, literally everything is about profit over quality. The cost of food shopping now is just shocking.....and yet the quality is rubbish.

It appears 'value' doesn't exist anymore....unless you steal a few items 😱(not recommended).

As someone who worked 7 years in the food industry and signed thousands of disclosure agreements... yes.

Even I can see through the supermarkets' BS. They are cutting production costs and looking to improve their profit margins.

What hasn’t been mentioned here is the HUGE price premium for food in ‘local/metro’ supermarkets. Nightmare in London as my 6-8 closest supermarkets are all locals and in central it’s even worse. Chicken breast easily £9+ per kilo in the largest packs vs £5-6 in a bigger store.

I live alone and always used to buy ready meals and quick things which would suit one person. Highly processed stuff! Since the COL crisis, I've turned to batch cooking, and freezing the leftovers. It has saved me a fortune and I've lost weight without losing the enjoyment from my food. To be honest i enjoy my food more. I know this wouldn't be ideal for all households. We are all busy and have a million and one things to do each day. But my advice is batch cook from fresh as often as you can! It's also very fun learning new recipes!

Cant believe that lady said "I'd gladly pay £7 for heinz ketchup, some people really just want to see the world burn

@madanto2394 2 years ago

Literally not joking i was charged £6.00 for a cappuccino and a German biscuit in a cafe earlier today.
Think they are making prices up as they please.

Prices have gone up and size have gone down. They talked about chocolate bars. Packs of 4 was a pound. Now a pack of 3 that are nearly fun size are 1.50... some need boycotting...

As a single mother of 2 kids my food shopping has become more expensive than my gas and electric bill. Before I used to be a good budgeting mom but now I can't even budget 😢. I hope something is done about this so families don't go hungry trying to feed their kids without going to bed hungry. There was one time I didn't have money for milk and I told my 5 year old I don't have money for milk , my daughter hugged me and said mommy it's okay I'll eat the last toast and go to school. I cried really hard. No child should ever see an adult cry because their parents couldn't afford milk. It's hard already as a single mother but budgeting with food shopping has gone out the window.

I've been using my local market for the last year for these reasons. I make all my own meals for me and the kids and the truth is we're all healthier, none of us have had colds this year either and it's BECAUSE we're getting the correct minerals and nutrition. I go to the supermarket for toilet paper and cleaning stuff only.

Watching this program has made me realise how important it is that I get started on my allotment, growing as much food , fruits/ veg herbs as I possibly can . Not only saving money but getting fresh organic and knowing how rewarding it is, thats priceless!
