So I am a Christian who loves history and try to study the Old Testament. I actually run a Bible study in my home and we tend to study the Old Testament. Presently we are studying Exodus. I cannot tell you how these lectures are helping me with the history of the Jewish community. I have such respect for your religion.  This text would ramble on if I were to go into detail.  May I just say Thank You from a senior citizen in Wheaton, Illinois who loves all my Jewish friends.

I must express almost total ignorance about the subject of Ashkenazi Jewish people. Thanks for the lectures

In 1952 my aunt died in an automobile accident. The car she was riding in went out of control and sank in Cape Town Harbor. She had been married to a non-Jewish man and the Hevra Kadisha (or equivalent) in Cape Town refused to bury her. My father turned to a Reform congregation and as a result I was raised in the Jewish Reform community.
I mention this in response to your mention of the Hevra Kadisha using its office to discipline members of the community.

I have followed you talks on Biblical history and now these on the Ashkenazi and find them very interesting.

I am a descendant of the Ashkenazim and have traced my family to a small town near Minsk.

Very interesting information.  I was raised in Monmouth County, NJ as a Catholic but my father always said our family had been Jewish. My DNA confirms this so I'm glad to find this information available.  Even more than that, I love your style and sense of humor. I live in Utah and no one gets my jokes but you would.  You are a breathe of fresh air for me. Thank you!

This should be mandatory for all Jewish school kids. Excellent.

Found your channel as a non-religious history buff, loving the lectures and its very helpful in understanding economies, politics, governments and trends in history since the Jewish community was such a critical part. Also, loved the Charlemagne joke, that was great haha.

Thank you for this amazing course. תודה רבה!

To consider the obligation to pay taxes (and support for your wife after divorce) as THE major infringement on personal freedom is strikingly American.

Very helpful lecture for understanding the organisation of community

These are great! Thank you 🙏!!

Brilliant Lecture. One of the best I’ve seen

Thank you for another fascinating and informative presentation on Jewish history in Europe...can't wait to get through this series.

Thank you!  I learn so much from your lectures.  The work you are sharing is well thought out and delivered with verve,  well done Sir.

I am learning so much from you! I am also integrating this information into my previous studies. The linkages are amazing! Thank you, once again.

I'm glad that you finally restarted these great hourly lectures.

Thank you very interessting lecture.

Deligtblful and clear presentation!

Many Catholics are buried in a catholic cemetery.  My husband's family are all buried in a catholic cemetery.  This makes it nice, so you can visit the whole family and future generations are able to see their  ancestors and maintain the beauty of their plots. Its comforting to see your religious Icons, knowing your family members are were they with their  relatives.

The dad jokes are endearing, Professor! 👍

Wow! So informative. Thank you.!
