Tip, when you use a tamper let go of it on the down stroke, it will save your wrists and shoulders and you can go 3 times longer.

This is the most purposeful use of a slim side space I've ever seen. The storage, privacy, drainage, lighting, timeless design, indestructible products and low maintenance is ALL perfect. Nice job!

looks great, my concern is your drain hole. eventually dirt and sand will fill in between your gravel, creating a sunken spot. i suggest wrapping the drain hole with a fine weed barrier or french drain barrier to prevent that maybe at least over the top.

Massive bushes -- you mean trees? 😂 Project looks great. Topping the cinderblock makes a nice difference -- really good idea. Make sure that the cedar trees get regular trimming so they maintain an attractive shape and suitable size.

You did great. You forgot the weed barrier or geotextile (8oz or 16oz) to keep the native topsoil from washing away into your gravel drain.

Would be interested to see a one or two year update. There’s so much plastic and so little drainage… in a climate with a freeze cycle this would probably pull itself apart after a few seasons.
