An afternoon-to-dusk walk through Arakawa in Tokyo, starting with a short ride on the Toden Arakawa Line — Tokyo's last streetcar. From Arakawa-nichome Station we pass two swans in Arakawa Nature Park, cross Meiji-dori, and then lose ourselves in the narrow Showa-era backstreets: an old hand-pump well, Mikawashima Daishi temple, a tiny roadside Jizo shrine, and lanes barely wide enough for one person, finishing at Keisei Machiya Station as the lights come on.
No talking, no music — just the sounds of the town.
