Excellent tutorial on making a box with an additional mini-tutorial on using the skew and the parting tool. I've not seen you use the parting tool much so thank you for that.

I liked the multiple instruction and reinforcement on the need to sharpen 4 skew bevels,  a sharpening skill many casual skew users are unaware of.

Great video, full of information.

The original NRS/negative rake scraper, was the skew chisel. I had a work shop with Stewart and Allan Batty, and Allan was telling stories about turning billiard balls with jamb chucks. I prefer a 25/55 degree NRS on my boxes. That gives enough metal under the burr to support it so while it isn't really a heavy roughing tool, you can hog out a lot of material. I have a host of them, mostly 1/2 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick for my boxes. There are many nose profiles, from half round to angled back. I did make a bench for my mini lathe for doing boxes. It is a bit higher than most would feel comfortable using for bowl turning, but nice for being able to see inside the box as you are turning it. I have been playing with an UV finish. The UV finishes cure instantly if you buy the expensive lights, but me, being frugal, just take them out in the sunlight and let them sit. Fully cured in about 30 minutes. No VOCs either so I can finish inside my shop without a gas mask. I am one who has to "experiment". My dad was an engineer, and I think like him..... If it ain't broke, take it apart and fix it anyway....

man, watching your videos makes me realize my tools are not sharp enough, guess i need to get a bench grinder (I've been using a 600 grit credit card diamond sharpener since to me a bench grinder is very expensive lol)

I’m new to turning and when you got that tear out at the end I’d have probably smashed it on the workshop floor and walked out in a stew 😡…amazing that you still got a beautiful box 📦 out of it. 🤓👍
