At beginning of Vid showing the chains, they are inside out, sharp point of links are facing inward to incur more damage earlier to the tire.

I just purchased a set of chains with the rubber cross traction straps for my blacktop driveway. Mine is just over 200’ long and yes they should stop any damage to the blacktop. Very good video. Thanks 👍. Note that I purchased the Softclaw brand chains because you can replace the straps individually and you can get replacement parts from the maker.

Using a small ratchet strap hooked a few links up on each side will make your installation easier !

Thats a big upgrade from those old chains and looks to work well , I had the same issue with tearing up my asphalt driveway and gave my tractor a very bumpy ride , Bought a TYM compact tractor with a blade since , Good video and subd !

Great video!  I purchased these same style "many moons" ago (16 years ago) because I had just had my driveway paved.  For the most part, they work fantastic - they did not mark up my driveway.  A big key is to make sure they are on tight, as mentioned in the video.  The problem is that once in a while I would get stuck and have to use "elbow grease" to get out.  Two years ago I had major back surgery (L2-S1) and did not want to take a chance using the "elbow grease".  Bottom line is that I purchased steel chains and have used those last season and this season.  My opinion is that the steel chains work better as far as giving you traction.  The "rubber" chains do a pretty good job and are so much better than "nothing".  If I had a new driveway  or had not had major back surgery, I would still be using the "rubber" chains.  They are now my back-up chains.  Anyway, great video and a great product!

Seeing you struggle with the installation made me think of a simple installation tool that would make the job quicker and easier. I’m surprised the manufacturer didn’t think of this and offer it for sale.

Ive got a horrible back. When i put chains on light equipment like snowblowers, lawn/garden tractors, i now just pull the wheels and do what i need to at a comfortable level on a bench. Seeing this installation, i would definitely have done the same. I have no problem trading what i think may be more time for an easier time and less discomfort.

I saw a comment about getting stuck but even with metal chains you can. I’m lucky because my Husqvarna GT52xlsi has a locking rear differential and if I do get stuck I flip a switch and both rear tires turn together and I have not gotten stuck. Something to consider for snow plowing. 👍

A good set of snow tires for your little tractor would go a long way to providing traction needed in winter snow plowing.  If you don't want to do that, a good set of turf tires work will for snow conditions.

I got my John Deere 318 its about time got it back today it runs really good it start easy when hot or cold got my snow blower on today got my suitcase weights on the back waiting for snow

I use really aggressive ATV tires for snow plowing and snow blowing.  Tire chains really give your tractor a crappy ride,  chains slip-on glare ice.  I tried tungsten carbide screw in studs on the ATV tires when we had ice a few years back, they are extremely hard on concrete or blacktop driveways & your garage floor.  I have 2 sets of tires mounted, switching between the summer and the winter tires  is a whole lot faster than putting chains on.

Just a piece of info. They come with different latching devices. Mine are "Terraking" name brand.  Mine go on rivit closest to the tire.  Look at video " Terragrips Tractor Chain alternative- are they worth the money." I do agree that they are great!

Im going to just buy some snow tires for mine.

Fill the tires with antifreeze. Even helps with mowing and gives you super traction without chains.

Seeing marks on your driveway shows you have traction. Not seeing marks on your driveway means you have little traction. By the way my driveway is almost 600 feet long so you can just imagine how much it cost me to pave it but I still use chains.

I use a heavy garden tractor to plow snow.
We have a gravel driveway.  
Rimguard tire fluid. 2 link steel chains with ice cleats. Traction is excellent.  
Steel chains WILL have better traction than rubber cross chains... BUT the steel is aggressive and will damage asphalt and concrete.

Use beat juice in your tires works the best

If you’re using liquid in your rear tires letting air out is not a good idea.  I use chains on rear on my 1025r, go slow in 4 wheel drive and have had no damage to my pavement.
