Maybe this is just reflective of the parts of the internet I frequent, but it seems to me that chatelaines are coming back into fashion. I've seen five or six videos of people making them in the past few months.

That device isn't for graphite but holds a chalk stick. I used to have one that was a plainer make. It was used often by teachers when I was a kid (1970s).

My mom had hip replacement surgery last week and this morning said I needed to help her make a little bag to hang off her walker to carry her phone and things. I doubt we'll go as extra a leaf bag, but this has me thinking about silly things I can embroider on a little pouch. So thanks for the inspiration.

I'm an antique dealer who loves chatelaines. I was just published in a Canadian magazine where I wrote an article about sewing and chatelaines. I even make them out of broken antiques jewelry similar to what you're doing. I love when more people learn about this incredible items

Hello. Leather worker here. Everything is super cute!!!
The leather you have there looks to be a chrome tan and the edges don't tend to finish or "burnish" well the way that vegetable tanned leather does. That said, it's still possible, but it requires a burnishing agent. For chrome tan, i would recommend Tokenole. It's a blend of plant resin and waxes. Apply a thin, even coat to the edge, allow to dry and then use the stick. The heat you generate from the stick will melt the wax into the leather, leaving a nice, smooth edge.

If your plan is to do mending for others in addition to working on your own costumes, may I suggest adding a little container of buttons and hooks and eyes to your sewing kit? I can definitely see those being needed at that kind of event. Also, instead of taking whole spools of thread, why not use some bobbins with a handful of different colors? That way you can have a wider variety of thread colors without having to carry a lot of full-sized spools.

2:35 "this thing that opens" is a locket, and yours is a lovely piece! They can hold tiny photos, a snip of hair, a four-leaf clover...

I adore chatelaines! I had a fairly unspectacular one, made of grosgrain ribbon, to hold a pin cushion and my tiny "stork" thread snips.

As for the pouch: you made a sporran! My Scottish heart absolutely loves the concept, and my Irish heart loves the design! 🥰

And I'm not sure why everyone's making such a big deal about your lack of makeup. I've never seen you with makeup, and I think you look lovely. 😊

When I saw the first result I was thinking " wow, this looks amazing but let's hope and pray that the chains are not getting tangled" that was my biggest worry.
