In the fall of 2018, Juan Villoro delivered a lecture at Malba entitled “The Narrative Unconscious.” In collaboration with the museum's Literature Department, the author presents this book, which takes that lecture as its starting point. Mind and Writing evokes the friendship Villoro shared with his literary mentor, Sergio Pitol. Beginning with the memory of his last visit to Pitol's home, he revisits the readings and anecdotes they shared and explores how the mind operates in writing when “the narrator writes to discover something unknown.”
