Always good to get a refresher when you dont do this every day.

As an electrician, I want to learn more about a tool called “broom” .
Other trades keep asking me why I never use it, but I don’t know what it is.

Sometimes i use the proper size, then switch to  a larger hole to pull the insulation off.

I noticed the hat, first thing.  As a former USAF Combat Munitions Systems Specialist (AMMO troop)...  Respect.
 Thanks for doing this video, it took me a while to figure it all out when I was young and nobody around to teach me but, at least I DID.  Many people will just struggle or not realize what mistakes they're making for their entire life. 👍🇺🇲

Hmmm, didn't know about the reamer. So you're right...there was, at least one feature that I didn't know about :)

Some of us old folks had wire strippers that didn't have present holes.
You just squeezed until you felt it was correct. I haven't used those since at least the 70s.

I have a pair of wire strippers from Klein Tools (No. 11055) that appear to have identical features to the yellow-handle pair from Ideal discussed in this video.  They didn't come with instructions and I learned about their features and how to use them properly by watching earlier videos in this channel.

John, Hi... A few year subscriber. First time commenting on a video. What a good helpful video. I have a cheap red handle pair of wire strippers. I'm by no means an electrician, a home owner in the middle of the country. I use wire strippers maybe twice a year. However I have exceeded that this year. I had to replace four broken wall outlets. One had four wires that had wires pushed into the back. Not one person at a big box store had an idea what that was. A guy who was in the aisle with me, said he was a retired electrician and explained that I needed a "commercial" wall outlet and showed me how to properly install the wires. He actually asked me what wire strippers I was using,😅. I said, IDK, but in the photos I took before cutting the wires, they were laying on the floor. He explained that I needed new wire strippers. He recommended either Klein or Ideal. Im guessing that my vise grips that I've used for crimping need replaced as well. I didn't see the blue/black wire cutter/crimper linked in this video. Do you have an affiliated link for those as well. My wife always says, well your electrical work, technically is correct and works, but it looks scary as I watch you do anything electrical. She granted me permission to upgrade my strippers, now I found some crimper's. Let me know and I will buy from your link. Respectfully

40 years, I don't even look at the markings anymore. An exciting aspect of my job is changing high bay lights, 30' in the air, with hot circuits, I don't use my thumb as a lever!

When you rotate the stripper you can cause a fire because when you shove the outlet in and the wire bends it can snap and stay partially connected.  Seen it a few times on well done smoked outlets.  Outlet could go years powering something small too then they run a constant 12a current for several hours and come back to a mess.

I own these exact strippers and still learned a bunch
