Not only do we have new BOC music, but we have a new video from yourself, my week is complete 😊

It’s impressive how efficient a lot of this is. It the same gear over and over again just configured with in slightly different ways. You really can see he was just a kid in his bedroom playing with the few bits of gear he had. Fantastic. Love the album even more.

Since the late 80's I've been a big fan of the R8. The best digital drum machine made IMHO.  I was on R&S at the same time Richard was and the gear that was available to be discovered and the era was  amazing for electronic music.

I can tell you a cool story: Back in the '90s, there was a music shop around the corner from my house. I went there every day and immediately had my eye on the R8. When I tried it out in the shop, I knew right away that it was something really special. I was only 16 years old at the time and didn't have much money. That awesome beast cost a whopping 1,850 DM (Germany) back then, which would be about 900 euros today. That was a heck of a lot of money back then, considering how poor we were. One day, the shop manager came up to me while I was playing around with the R8. He said, "You seem to know a lot about this thing." I replied that I was totally in love with it, but unfortunately, I couldn't afford it. Then he offered me a job helping out in the shop, explaining the R8 to customers when they asked about it. He said if I did that, I could get the R8 in five months. I accepted the offer immediately, of course, and after five months, it finally arrived: I received a brand-new, freshly packaged Roland R8, just as promised. I can't put into words what that meant to me and how thrilled I was! I was then hired full-time at the store, which allowed me to afford more cool synths and drum machines. I started producing with the Atari and Notator, and a year later, I was signed to a small indie label. I'll never forget that time. Today, I work in the film industry as a composer and sound designer, and my studio still has the R8 from back then, which I still use in almost every project. In my opinion, it's the best drum machine alongside the 606, 707, 808, and, of course, the 909, which I also use regularly. Cheers!

Thank you so much for this man. I absolutely love the drums on this album and since last year I've been trying to get close to an r8 and it drove me crazy.. Thank you so much this completely made my day

Tha is probably top 5 aphex tracks for me. So dubby and minimal, yet also so full and expressive with the melodies. First time I heard it was in a snow storm

I don't care if you take 3 years to release a new video, I just love your stuff and your approach to YouTube. When I see a new vid, I click on it, simple as that. Great stuff as always. Just sending a bit of validation your way. Chop chop, back to knob twiddling!

I love looking into Aphex Twins music like that since you really can just see how much a really talejnted person can do with the three machines he has in his bedroom. No GAS here, just interest, ungodly loads of talent and a good ear. Really inspiring

Your dedication to exploring this beloved music is inspiring, thank you!

You are doing the lords work. Cant wait to see Green Calx

Thank you Aphex Twin's Twin!

I bought Selected Works in the winter of 92 while in Italy for Christmas vacation. I remember my friends faces when they first heard it when I got back to Chicago. This album literally was life changing for all of us.

I love Aphex, but this LP brings back more memories than any of his others. Maybe due to fact that dance music at the time was becoming splintered between hardcore and early Jungle and then the Detroit/deep techno stuff.Or maybe it was me still being young. 1990 till about 92, all nighters at Stern's and and Brighton,  kissFM Colin Dale and Colin Favour. mdmazing time. anyhoo good work on this

Cool video! Apparently, some of the overall sound is enhanced by smashin the mix onto an old 4 track cassette, such that the reverb and everything gets nicely compressed and a bit saturated. Be a nice experiment anyway! 😊

Is everything ultimately sequenced by the Hapax, or are you syncing with the R8 and that sequencing its parts?

Yo beep-e, I need your help to make a synth that richard and pilotredsun use on a lot of their tracks. Its like relaxing and calm synth that sound on

Deathly - pilotredsun min 0:00

IZ-US - Aphex twin min 0:04

Flim - Aphex twin min 0:02

(i only had this examples, i know there is more tracks that use this synth, but right now i don't remember)

Please beep, can you make a short explaining how to make this sounds on a Daw? I really really want to make this synth n stuff

Thank you for sharing
