Oleg Vasilyevich Verkhodanov
March 17, 1965 - April 5, 2020

Oleg Vasilyevich Verkhodanov passed away on April 5, 2020.
Words cannot describe how wonderful this man was, nor how much honesty, love, kindness, professional zeal, and faith in his work he radiated.
But Oleg will forever remain with us. In our memories, in his family, relatives, and friends, and in his work.

The lecture you are about to watch was recorded in January 2020 as part of the 3rd Methodological Seminar for Astronomy Teachers. You can watch all videos from the methodological seminars in this playlist: Язев Сергей - Лекция "Возвращение предмета...

Despite the fact that observational cosmology is one of the most precise sciences
in determining cosmological parameters, it still contains puzzling facts: for example, what
dark energy and dark matter are, why there is an asymmetry between matter and
antimatter, and how to test proposed explanations for these facts.

This article discusses the main parameters of the modern LCDM cosmological model,
measured using the cosmic microwave background. It presents a brief history of the Universe,
reconstructed using these parameters, and also highlights some of the mysteries found
in the cosmic microwave background maps.

Oleg Vasilyevich Verkhodanov
Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Leading Researcher at the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SAO RAS).
