Those are some big ass pieces of Kibbeling. I prefer mine a bit smaller and more bite sized, but I’m sure it tasted great. Anyway, great vid! I was born and raised in The Hague so always nice to see a vid from my home town.

I was born and raised in The Hague, a real local, you should have eaten the herring at Simonis, a company in The Hague but also at the seaside in Scheveningen

I think the guy meant to say that the herring was pickled for 48 hours. In Dutch we say 'achtenveertig' which translates litterally as 'eight and forty', and somohow he mistranslated that into 'eightyfour'. But he probably meant 48.

What great luck! My brother and I are going to be visiting the Hague from the USA, staying near Het Plein, visiting relatives, and we have been determined to have a nice Indonesian rijstafel. We will definitely go to Kopi Kopi. (We've been to Luden several times.) You look liked you enjoyed yourself. Great job on the video!

There is a little difference between 84 hours and 84 days... The spicy mackerel is based on the Indonesian Pepesan. No paprika or cayun spices. In the layered cake there is neither rum nor melasses. There are a lot of spices ( cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, cardamon in different ratios dependant on the recipe). The dark layers contain brown sugar or Gula Djawa .
