Anyone drinking 10, 12 beers a day has more problems than worrying about retirement.....

Finally a real video about cost to retire, sick of watching videos saying can live in bali for under $1000/month

@ChrissyB-m6o 3 days ago

I just stumbled across your video and not that I am thinking of retiring in Bali, I thoroughly enjoyed watching you. You keep the audience engaged with good flow with your words.
In other words you're not boring. Ive just subscribed lol

What? You mean I won't get a luxury villa on a cliff overlooking the beach and a model girlfriend all for $100 a month......like the influencers! Our reality is retire early, rent our property in Australia, live in Indonesia for 5 years then head home for the pension, free healthcare and the rest of our retirement. If we like living in Indonesia after the 5 years, we sell up and commit to the rest of our life over there. We have noticed just how much the place has changed since COVID but it's still a dream or an itch we need to scratch. Thanks for the honest information.

The thing is yes $1,000,000 might be just enough, but if you costs in Australia is $80,000 and you can get by at about the same standard in bali is $30,000-40,000 you are better off comparatively. You are also assuming $1,000,000 is just sitting there if you have it invested with an average 8-10% rtn aka in the share market you capital will be increasing by more than you are spending.

Another great Vlog, but the question on my mind is, can you live full time in Bali, on an Australian aged pension? Cheers Bintang,🦘🦘🦘🇦🇺🍺🍺🍺

Best option I reckon ,keep your house in Oz and spend maybe 2 to 6 months a year in Asia whether it's Bali or Hua Hin or somewhere in Thailand ..Keep the freedom to move as much as you can afford to. Great info though, it's all possible depending on how you want to live but I reckon living as close as you can like a local wherever you end up is probably important. Great vlog as usual cheers.

I used to want to retire in Bali, but after being stuck in traffic, realizing there are no footpaths and tourist galore. I have looked around and found Vietnam. The place is amazing and after being colonized by the French, the road networks and footpaths are soo much better.. Great vid, thanks!

Good video. I think there are a certain percentage of people that will retire successfully in Bali, or anywhere overseas, with any budget, with discipline. 1st thing when older is be aware of your health. Also we used to say back in the day in California, the best pool or boat you can have is somebody elses!😂

Absolutely agree , maybe you can retire with $1m , but you need to understand as many of the pitfalls as you can first . No better place to learn than from someone with so many years actually living it . A good few tips for me , thanks for your insights

This was awesome Grant, I’m there in 2 years you’ve convinced me now. Promise ya I won’t cramp anyone’s style 😂

Having a short break in Kuala Lumpur, went to a put to watch footy last weekend. A$12 for a pint of beer because they have sin tax on it, western style pub and imported beer that was. Won't be sinning here ( pizza 12 inch was for A$10 in that pub) that beer (had 3) cost me more than pub in Sydney with opera house view. It can be expensive in Asia, if someone is frugal and don't drink, it can be very modest comfortable lifestyle. The amount of white tourists/expats drinking, they leave more money there on alcohol than average local family does on all living expenses. It's not life I would like to have.

Never pack up and sell everything always have a Plan B keeping your house is the smart idea at least you can always go back if it doesn’t work out! but if you sell everything your screwed! Love your channel it makes you think if your thinking about going troppo!!

It is easier if you earn passive income such as dividends. I hardly touch any principal. Anyway, spot on about factoring in for inflation. I couldn’t live there full time. Japan for me.
