Some animated villains are created by tragedy. Others are pushed too far.
But these villains? 😈 *They had a choice.*
In **When Villains CHOSE To Be Evil**, we're looking at animated villains who were given chance after chance to stop—and somehow kept choosing the worst possible option.
From *Lord Shen* trying to outrun a prophecy by creating the very future he feared, to *Scar* choosing power over his own family, these villains weren't simply misunderstood. They knew people would get hurt and kept going anyway. 💀
We'll also break down **Jack Horner**, who might have one of the least sympathetic villain backstories ever, **Rattlesnake Jake**, who uses fear as a weapon, and **Shan Yu**, whose need to dominate becomes more important than simply winning.

On his revenge for Krei over his daughter, Abigail's disappearance in a failed teleportation experiment, he caused the fire at SFIT and his student, Tadashi ran in to save him, but it was too late. Had he realized Tadashi came in, he could've shown guilt for it, but didn't. Later when Tadashi's brother Hiro unmasks/confronts him over it, he spits it right in Hiro's face, thus causing both Tadashi's death and the rest of his trauma to simultaneously erupt. That could've woken him up, but didn't!!
Callaghan's revenge took a toll on BOTH Hamada brothers in 1 fell swoop!! The thought of his pain over his daughter being casted onto innocent people could've been a reality check to how laser-focusness can come at the expense of other people, but he chose revenge over sympathy and it played a role in the life sentence in jail he eventually got/accepted!!!
