We are from Oklahoma so we go in through Cody and come out Jackson Hole on our way out  after we visit Grand Teton too 😊

I love the north entrance and mammoth it’s a nice stepping off point and if you’ve been traveling all day you don’t wear the yourself going to other places

I happen to be in yellowstone while you released this video.  My vote is driving through paradise valley with its towering snow peaks on both sides to the north entrance.

i’ve only used the east and northeast coming from cody that northeast  entrance is my favorite the drive down chief joseph is amazing and cooke city is a must stop

I would only add that RV's are ill advised on that northeast route;-)

This was so informative and helpful! Thank you!

Thank you for all the tips. I did not know the tips for Google maps.

I don’t have your travel guide so you may already cover this. We pull an RV and usually use the Gardiner entrance because 90 is easier to traverse the mountains than 80 (we live in the east) and we can hit the Badlands and Custer State Park. However, since the floods that entrance is hard because the new road(which is the original entrance) has so many switchbacks that are tight and impossible to keep a larger RV in the lane. Entering in from the Tetons is a lot easy. Love the channel and its family focus travel. I think I posted before the floods that the north entrance wasn’t bad, but that has now changed. Thanks!

I know that locals pronounce "Absaroka" as "Ab-Sork-uh" though I don't know if the hotel owners pronounce it that way.

We stayed in Island park ID. Hotel was fine but not a lot of good eating options. I liked the west entrance. It closest to what we were interested in.

There are actually 6 entrances. There is one in the SW corner for access to the 'Cascade Corner'. Very cool area

I'm in Cody.  Jackson has the most motels and options for places to eat.  The problems are that the motel rates are sky high and Jackson has become very touristy and it's hard to get through town during most of the day in the summer.  You don't want to base a Yellowstone visit out of here.  It's too far up and back.  You have to want to visit Grand Teton, then move up to Yellowstone.  West Yellowstone and Cody have the next most motels with more reasonable rates.  But because West Yellowstone is the most direct route from SLC, the West Entrance is absolutely jammed during the summer, even if you get up early.  It can take a half hour to an hour waiting in line just to get into the park.  That one traffic light at N Canyon and Yellowstone is a big pain coming and going.  It dribbles vehicles six or seven at a time.  People staying in West Yellowstone who stick around for the sunset Old Faithful eruption can take two hours trying to get back into West Yellowstone because of that light.  Twice as long as it should take.  Cody is an hour from the park, but the wildlife in the mornings and late evenings can be rewarding along the North Fork of the Shoshone River.  There are also seven or eight lodges or dude ranches along that route.  They are more geared to weekly stays, but offer tours of Yellowstone, rafting and horseback riding.  Pahaska Teepee is three miles from the East Entrance.  The Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody is suprisingly world class.  Your ticket is good for two days.  You'll need it.  Cooke City/Silver Gate and Gardiner offer the best year round access and close to some of the best wildlife viewing in the summer.  Hotels and particularly restaurants are more limited here, but access is easy.  The only bad part about Gardiner is the road between the town and Mammoth.  They'll put a new road in for the part that got washout in 2022, but for now, the road is slow, narrow and twisty.  Motor homes and long trailers can be a challenge as they cut corners on the now-paved old stagecoach route.  Bozeman is a good option for a starting point.  It's the largest town closeby, but it's an hour and a quarter to get to Gardiner and the hotel rates nearly double on June 1st.  Just checking Holiday Inns for 6/15/26, West Yellowstone is $413.  Bozeman is $325.  Cody is $179.  Super 8 in Jackson is $257, but most places there are $300 to 500 per night.  The Super 8 in Cooke City is $145 and in Gardiner is $308, but most places in Gardiner are around $240.

We’re coming in early June from Tx & wanna see MT 1st, then WY, so we’re flying into Bozeman, rent car & stay 1night in Bozeman, then work our way down to w Yellowstone, stay there a couple more days, then to Wyoming a few days to see the Tetons, water rafting, & mountain coaster on snow king mt! Then go home from Jackson airport!!!! That’s how we figured it’s best to do!! And stuck with the final plan! Can’t wait!!!! It’s been my life’s dream to go to MT & WY, so I’m super psyched! My mom, not so much! She’s scared of encountering a bear!!! 🐻 😢

Thanks for all of this helpful information! If we are a little nervous about heights/scary rooads should we have any concerns about the North or West  entrance? Any areas to avoid? We are coming in July.

Question, who was your guide when y’all did the Antelope Canyon with the horse shoe bend tour?

The west entrance is on Idaho

We are planning a trip to Yellowstone and we are driving from Iowa. I am not sure I want to do it because of the long drive, and I only have 10 days.

Seems like you guys use all the entrances
