Well done, gentlemen,

I'll take the OG all day every day.

Lets see what the new Wrangler will look like in 80 years.

Nice video guys.  A hint from an old Army veteran from 40 years ago.  Keep your thumbs out of the steering wheel!  No power steering, and if you hit a large rock the wrong way, the wheel can spin violently and break your thumb.  It's the Jeep version of M1 thumb....

Would be interesting to compare a WW2 Dodge WC to a new Ram.

I'm so happy that you're using that old MB for wheelin', like it was made to do, instead of letting it sit in the collection collecting dust.

We still have two running and working , 1947 CJ2A's bought new and still on the same farm!! Great Grandson is the caretaker now!!

In my lifetime, I have had many CJ 2A
Willy’s jeeps.
One time in particular, I had my 1943 off-road in the woods, mud and large boulders. It did well! I had to use my four wheel low but, that wasn’t the problem. What was the problem is that I had run out of gas. You don’t really get that great mileage with those vehicles and to my chagrin I had never checked the gas before I left. I was in the middle of nowhere with no gas. I took a chance and, removed all the spark plugs kept it in four-wheel-drive low, and used the starter to wheel myself out. At the time as it was, the vehicle was six volt and the battery took me almost a mile to get to the road where I could bring up a trailer and bring it home. What memories! How much fun!

Willys switched to the 7-slot grille because Ford actually invented the 9-slot stamped grille for the MB.  In order to avoid any trademark issues, Willy’s switched it to a 7-slot when they rolled out the CJ-2A after the war.

Would love to have an old jeep like that.

Holy cow! That flip over light feature on the 41 is cool as hell!! That’s pragmatic thinking boys and girls. Something the auto industry lost sight of long ago😢

The Hurricane name isn't new, so don't give Stellantis credit for coming up with a cool name. There was a Willys four-cylinder called a Hurricane and a six-cylinder called a Super Hurricane.

Great comparison. Both new and old Jeeps look like a lot of fun, especially somewhere in the mountains.

I was in the Air Force, stationed in West Germany during 77 and 78.  We were a Combat Communications unit and we still had these old Jeeps! Hilariously, I only ever had to drive them on the Autobahn!

A big reason for the folding windshield was to remove the glass from in front of the driver for better visibility during blackout ops or convoys.  All the transport trucks of that era also had drop windshields.

Old looks better

You guys talk about open sky driving or putting down the windshield. Removing the doors, etc. When will you do it? With both the wrangler and Gladiator take them down and show them topless. What an opportunity I hope you don’t skip.

I think the Jimny is the most realistic descendant of the old WW2 Jeep. Same track, 9" longer wheeelbase and the same weight.

My father’s ship the USS Block Island CVE-21 did a “Special Requisition” of an Army Jeep that the driver parked closely to it on the dockside in Norfolk, Virginia.  They used a crane to hoist in aboard and had in repainted Navy Gray by the time the driver came back looking for it.  It was used to tow the aircraft around.

Thank you for pronouncing Willys correctly!
