I Needed The Store. The Store Had Surprises.

Some weeks are hard. And when they are, I go analog. I needed something different on my desk, so I went to Goods for the Study on the Upper West Side looking for ink and a notepad. I wasn't looking for much. And then I looked to my right.

This video covers a small but meaningful haul: a Tsubame Block Memo Pad (85mm square, cream, 5mm line grid - the one the staff uses in store), a Kyo No Oto Sakuranezumi ink (a dark dusky purple-gray that writes much deeper than the box suggests), and the Traveler's Notebook 20th Anniversary Card Size in black - which I genuinely did not expect to find in stock anywhere.

I've been using a TN for years. This is my first black one. I set it up as a wallet replacement and also tried fitting two pocket brass pens behind the leather tab. I swatch Sakuranezumi at the end on Tomoe River paper, MD paper, and the Tsubame block using a Kakimori nib in my Galen Leather Everyday Notebook (52gsm old stock Tomoe River, A5).

Pens on desk: Pilot Custom 74 (Sailor Yurameku Zare Gokoro), and a few others keeping me company.

Fountain pens and inks. Obsession? Maybe.
