The point of no return. In this first episode, of hopefully a series of videos.
I am officially opening up the ceiling, climbing into the unknown, and attempting to install the massive structural steels required for my DIY loft conversion.
Remember: I have never done this before, and I am absolutely NEVER doing it again! Before you can build a beautiful new room, you have to survive the structural engineering phase. For a first-time self-builder, handling heavy steel RSJs in a cramped, dusty attic space with a team or alone is a recipe for absolute chaos. In this episode, I'll take you through: • The nerve-wracking moment of cutting into the original plasterboard • The logistics of getting heavy steel beams up and into a residential house • Setting the steels onto their padstones and getting them perfectly level • The reality of working in a tight, dark roof space with no floorboards yet! This is where the dream meets reality. If you've ever wondered what it's like to take a chainsaw or crowbar to your own ceiling with zero professional experience, this one is for you. SUBSCRIBE to follow the entire journey from dusty wasteland to a completed room!
