Since posting this video, Chips unfortunately had to join Nilla and Timber.

From our socials: This month has been really challenging for our animals, our staff, and our viewers.

Today we had to say goodbye to Chips, our rat ambassador. Chips recently reached two years of age, an average lifespan for a domestic rat. She seemed to get old on us quickly and had been on medication for a lung infection for several weeks. Unfortunately, she was not responding well to antibiotic treatments and upon her recheck with the vet, they found aggressive cancer in her abdomen. The rats had two years full of life. As Chips now joins Nilla and Timber we will remember her for love for the feather basket, her incredible ability to drag tissue paper from the bottom of their enclosure to the top, and for all the little things that made her, her.  We miss them and Alveus won't be the same without them.

it makes me happy that the cams can be used so effectively with emergencies. it’s terrible that timber passed but I am so thankful he didn’t have a slow painful death.

To think that Timber got to live the end of his life in luxury instead of the inadequate care he was used to... what Alveus does is so incredibly meaningful. Not only do they make an entire world of difference to those individual animals but as a viewer I carry messages that the ambassadors have taught me throughout my daily life and the education from Alveus informs my life choices.

Planting a tree is so honourable and such a beautiful way to celebrate Timbers life ❤

Just a heads up to those who might not know, Chips has sadly passed away, too :(

and just as i’m watching this, it’s been announced that chips also passed. sending so much love to Alveus—i know it hurts, but you all have provided such a loving, enriched life to these rescues. ❤

so much loss in such a short period.. cant even imagine how hard that must be for all of you. as a viewer and animal lover its hard, and im just a random person who never actually met them. point is, this shit is HARD and definitely take all the time you need to grieve, we're all sososo understanding ❤

Such a hard week for the alveus crew. Wishing you all the best that you can be at the moment. And hopefully that 150k helps the burden just a bit.

My first dog passed away exactly a year ago and I’m still mourning him like my actual child (to me he was , I will not have human children anyway) and so I can understand that you are going through hard times, considering how much love and care you obviously have for these wonderful animals.  My heart truly goes out to you all 💔

Thank you for all that you do, and for daring to be human while doing it. We all know the great circle all too well, and what you're going through right now is going to happen again. Thank you for giving them all the best lives they can get, regardless how long that is for.

Also, congrats on the new solar setup, can't wait to see the progress on that for the next month!

For the AI model for tracking animal behavior, I feel like PhD students would be ideal for getting that made. As a PhD student in a different area, I'm sure there are others who are in the AI space that are fans of Alveus. Not sure how you could recruit one though ...
