It also flagged stuff I wrote in 1996 as AI.

It also flagged Shakespeare as AI.

So I’m slightly terrified of original work being falsely flagged as AI.

I'm trying to do a second novel. This video perfectly describes why I don't want to rely on AI to create for me. Because, like any art form, you want to have YOUR voice in your creative work. You want it to reflect a piece of YOU and whatever YOU have to say. Relying on AI just seems like something for people who have nothing to say but just want to make noise.

here's a thing about the rule of 3. I had a scene where a leader gave a speech, so I wrote a speech covering the topics he needed to. But I'm not a speechwriter, so I google information on what makes an effective speech. That's when I discovered "The Rule of Three". I rewrote the speech covering the same points, but using that rule, and suddenly it sounded like a real speech. I was very proud of myself, lol. But it's not written like "rule of 3" you mentioned here, but it's still annoying that perfectly normal and human-written speech might fall under this sort of microscope.

AI uses a lot of things my generation was commonly taught in school. Double space after a . The em dash, the Elipsus, and the list goes on and on. I have a novel that I hand wrote that I typed into word, yes it was written in 1990, and I tested an AI detector with it. The detector came back and said it was AI. I contacted the owner and we had words.

I was impressed. Astounded. Overwhelmed! Now I will ponder on my craft diligently. Studiously. Doggedly. Seriously. Great video!

You also do realize adjectives and similes are not overload modern day English, hence, Shakespeare and other writers wrote like this.

Many writers, particularly poets, have been using nonsensical metaphors for more than 100 years, so there's a lot of material for LLMs to get trained on to condition them into making those plausible generative text outcomes. A thunderstorm folded into velvet is actually a far better metaphor than many I've come across lately that were actually written by human beings, and in poetry, metaphors don't actually have to make logical sense either since the way poetry often works is to break down normal conventions of meaning, logic and language in order to express something beyond what can be communicated within those constraints that we usually take for granted.

I have noticed that so many AI-generated videos use the phrase, “What if I told you . . .” in the first few sentences of the video.  I hover over the thumbnail, and it comes up before I even click on it.

7:19 Hell yeah, that's why I've just had it point out grammar mistakes (so i can learn, and manually edit it). Or ask me questions about my writing so i can brainstorm and world build more.

I want a humans words, feelings, expresions and moods.

The one thing I've found that helps me write better, read more! I don't try to copy an author's style or format or anything specific, I just read to get an idea of the flow and what stories need to keep me hooked.

Several courses I’ve taken over the years drum the rules of three as a tactic for impact.  I’ve been writing since 2010, and use it all the time if the context of the scenes fits.

Although writing is more a hobby and a passion project and publishing lives in Somedayland, I declare myself guilty of "talking heads". I try to make clear who and where they are, and what they are doing (sorry, English isn't my first language and I was taught to use comma before "and") without falling into the infamous "As you know, Bob". It is quite the exercise. I have "don't rewrite" set in my custom instructions.
