That guy exudes pride and satisfaction in a life well lived…good on ya mate….

I was a UH-1N crew chief with HMLA-367 and flew my check flight with Col. Jamison when I checked in. One of the best pilots and CO’s I’ve ever had. Good to see him after 25 years!

At 1:16:45 - “I had some credibility in the fleet” I’m not a pilot so I’m not so good at reading between the lines, but that seemed like a rather incredibly humble statement. 4350 hours and was a pilot for the POTUS…. Ummm yeah… I’m thinking his credibility was never in question. Great interview.

Excellent interview and very engaging guest.  You know it's good when 90 minutes go by and it feels like 30.

This is what I love about this podcast ,you're entertained and informed about fascinating subjects and incredibly interesting people that you didn't even think you'd find interesting. Fantastic stuff thanks for your efforts 👏👏👏👍🇦🇺

I was a V22 Osprey crew chief at HMX 2013-2016 and had the honor to be a part of these missions. Best experiences of my life!

Enjoyed the pod cast … I was at HMX Aug 1975 - Sep 1978 as an Avionics Tech and I was a VH-1N and VH-3D crew chief. I was there at the end of Ford and first part of Carter. Many trips to Camp David and Georgia. I took Marine One onto the South Lawn Aug 1978 two weeks before I got out.

God bless America

What a great interview and interviewee.  Col. Boone is such a personable kind a guy.  I really enjoyed everything he had to say. Salute you sir for your service. Thank you.

I was an ATC Technician at MCAF Quantico / HMX-1 during Reagan / Bush. John Lehman was the Secretary of the Navy and as a reservist pilot would come there once a month and fly helicopters to get his flight hours, even though he was a fixed wing pilot. I would sometimes great him in the VAL lounge when I had weekend duty. I met many others in that VAL lounge like SEAL Team 2, and the many Marine Funeral escorts going to Dover after the Beirut Barracks bombing. I never met Col. Jamison, but most of the officers at HMX-1 and H&HS were at the top of their game. Semper Fi, GySgt. V

I was privileged to be a young E-5 helicopter mechanic with HMX-1, 70-72, when Richard Nixon was President. As I recall, we had five VH-3A helicopters for the President and several VH-1D helicopters. We received two VH-1N helicopter shortly before I was discharged into civilian life. My time in the Marine Corps was the very foundation of my life long career in aviation, which included more than thirty years with European aircraft manufacturer Airbus. I proudly displayed the picture of Marine One, given to me upon separation from the Corps, in my Airbus office. Now retired, that same picture hangs in the office of my home. Semper fi, Marines!

These interviews are so fun to listen to. Im sure that was a pretty incredable career.

My buddy was HMX-1 and he is quite literally the most impressive young man I’ve ever met. He’s in his mid twenties and I will be turning 40 this year, and I’ve said multiple times to numerous people that I want to be more like him when I grow up. I could literally write an essay on why this guy is unlike any other person I’ve ever met in my life. Is that due to his time being HMX-1? I don’t know. But I know a lot of Marines, and I love and respect them all so very much, but you can easily tell the difference between the pipe hitters and the Marines who specialized in prestige, formality, duty, and honor. I wish I could describe how much his presence is… palpable.

I’d often tell him that he’s basically an American version of the English beef eaters, ie. queen’s guard💂‍♂️. Except he doesn’t look nearly as ridiculous.

Anyhow, I hear/see people talking about HMX-1 and I feel the urge to tell them about the most impressive gentleman I’ve ever met, and here we are… mission accomplished.

I miss the old school military. You guys were the best.

Amazing interview and guest!

Such a sweet man. Was a great treat to hear his story

What a wonder discussion.  Thank you!
I got to see a bit of the Presidential/VIP ops at Andrews AFB. I was TDY there in late 1984 and again in early 1986 doing work at the air traffic control facility/tower. Very interesting seeing the prep and post work of what goes on for a Presidential/VIP departure or arrival.

I had the pleasure of working with one of his crew chiefs for the same president. Outstanding stories. Amazing folks.

Fascinating interview..great guest!

My cousin's husband is a mechanic for the presidential helicopters. He ended up being chosen right as President Biden was put in office. He served his time there but couldn't wait to get out because it became so political that it made him not even want to be in the Marines anymore. Which is very sad! I really enjoyed the show thank you so much for the information it was awesome.
