Pine doesn’t make creosote. Wet wood does, all I burn here in the Yukon is pine, 4 cords last year and barely a handful of soot was all that came out of the flue when I swept it. Great content sir!

Hey mate love the videos, in regards to your statement at 8:30 about Creosote that’s actually incorrect, pine doesn’t cause it itself it’s wet wood does this, hard wood soft wood doesn’t matter if it’s high moisture density it’ll form creosote, because wet wood won’t throw out enough heat and it’ll block up, just my experience from doing fireplace maintenance and installation for 4 years. I switched to all battery electric chainsaws 18 months ago. My largest electric is a 20 inch 5.8 hp which is a 70cc gas saw equivalent. I have enough batteries to cut over a full cord without recharging which is more work my senior body can handle in a day. Three years ago battery saws were no bigger than around 3 to 4 hp but today Greenworks makes a 6.7 hp which is a a 80 cc equivalent. Battery electric isn’t for professional firewood processors who cut wood for 8 hours straight but for most home owners they work well without the hassle of hard starts, bad gas and Saturday carburetor rebuilds.

Keep this in mind David. Every year that goes by, logs get heavier, winters get colder, and your body gets weaker. So, I’m glad you have back up heat sources.

Use the bar oil in the silver bottle (Platinum) by Stihl. It is 100 times better!! I cut and split about 35 to 40 cords a year.

2:57 I didn't know some people felt that way about birch 😮 In Finland it's the cream of the crop for firewood, burns beautifully when allowed to dry properly 👌🏻 Pine is common as well but it's pitchy so it spatters when burnt and doesn't have the energy density birch offers.

I enjoy your videos very much. I think something like a lean to would serve you weell. If you make it big enough like 3 spaces you can divide your wood according to the season you cut it. After a vinter when one space is empty you can fill it with fresh cut wood. Next winter you move onto the second space. This way you can have 3 years woth of firewood always and you just cut what you will need 2 years from now.
English is not my first language. So if what I wrote makes no sense feel free to ignore it.

Please do yourself and family a favorite and get chaps and a bucking help. A chainsaw cut or limb hitting you in the head is pain,Been hit with a top as a logger and been bit with a saw,lifetime injuries,and yes i still run saws. Fire wood is fun for sure.

I only burn 100% lodgepole pine. I only need to clean my chimney once every two years. Very dry and seasoned wood along with a quality stove makes all the difference.

Birch IS hardwood. Birch also has plenty of B.T.U.'s in it. I have plenty of Birch and Sugar Maple on my property, and they both burn well, and burn hot.

Great video! I like the tote idea. Even if you dont like the look long term, it would be great for temporary storage during winter storms. The drone is neat too!
