Yes, Junhan is absolutely the emo boy of the group. Since after Overload he's been painting his nails, growing his hair out, wearing skirts, using lipstick, just really embracing the emo lifestyle 🤣 He's my bias cause he's just a whole VIBE. He seems very calm and vibey and then suddenly he's a absolutely shredding on the guitar haha!

I think Xdinary Heroes' music is getting more mature and developed. They debuted with a unique music genre and dared to do various music genres but still focused on rock. Their live concerts are even cooler than their recordings. For more details on how cool their vocals are, you can watch the video when Xdinary Heroes became guest stars on the immortal song show on the KBS channel when they sang the song forbidden love.
This boys are definition of talent...

28:38 my face when you said you wanted someone to scream and you hadn’t listened to instead yet: 😈

junhan is definitely our emo boy but gaon is our 2000s pop punk enjoyer😭😭

one day i fear xdinary heroes will just explode from being physically incapable of one-upping themselves anymore

iNSTEAD literally changed my life. Can you imagine my SHOCK when a group that kind of relatively plays it safe with rock music releases an entirely METAL TRACK from JYPe with an actual metal MV?? Like the song is fantastic and one of their most impressive, but the MV??? Guys give it up for the camera crew, the editors, the artists, directors, producers, everyone!! 👏👏👏👏

Oh god, and the fish eye lens. This song and MV were already 15/10 but anything to do with a fish eye brings it up to 20 🤣

They're making a comeback on March 24 btw with a mini album 'Beautiful Mind' so mark your calenders and make sure to check it out when it's released!

Music inspiration by member:
- Gunil: Muse, Oasis, Noel Gallagher, Jannabi, there is another korean indie duo he likes a lot but dont remember the name.
- Jungsu: mm justin bieber more pop stuff, kpop exo.
- Gaon: Green Day, Panic at the disco, Motley Crue, Nirvana
- Ode: kpop soloist, IU.
- Junhan: Linkin Park, Jaurim, random indie rock US bands, some tecnopop.
- Jooyeon: 5sos, Motley Crue, Oasis, Nirvana, 90 and 2000s korean singers both ballads and some rock.
And Jooyeon, main vocalist and bassist, is the maknae. But yes Jooyeon, the one that has black lips and long hair in Instead! (that was a wig, he would have probably have it real if Studio J the company decided on 2023 to cut his hair a lot of times, he didnt want it but has to do it)

I'm glad you gave Xdinary Heroes another chance!
For me it was love at first listen when they debuted. I Love Happy Death Day 😂
With each comeback, I love them more and more

16:25 HEEEY so fun fact: you mentioned Nothing But Thieves and guess what: Xdinary Heroes made a cover for one of their songs "Impossible"! Is one of their most famous covers, def worth a listen!

I personally believe they've never released a bad song. HDD and Test Me are two of my least favorites, however I wouldn't skip them in a playlist. It's not that they weren't "given good songs" haha, they have always had a big part in writing their own music, even since the beginning. But I think they started very kpop just to get a LOT of people in the door, and then they matured and evolved and grew into their own sound once they realized they have a huge rock and metal fan base.

My overall favorite album has to be Overload which is an early one, just because it was my first ever comeback with them and it had major creepy vibes which I love. But Troubleshooting is absolutely their best album. That is like top kpop album out of all of my faves. And Live and Fall is almost there solely because of iNSTEAD. I was a metalhead in middle school and that song just like made all my dreams come true 🤣

FYI. Strawberry Cake was the B-side of Test Me.

Jooyeon has a 10/10 voice for me, there is literally nothing I would change!
I'm also much more of a fan of their recent look/vibe - it's grown and mature while still being edgy 🙌

I will say that XH are the kings of B-sides

Funfact : almost all of people who don't know XH and watch Instead for the 1st time always think that Jooyeon is Yoon Do Hyun😂

Xdinary heroes were definitely held back by the sole fact that their debut was so rushed. I think that StudioJ rushed their debut due to Day6's enlistment, and they needed content fast. I've been a fan since pre debut, and watching them find their sound has been so cool.

Xymphony gives huge Muse vibes. Gunil, the drummer, is a big fan of Muse!

Also this is one of my favorite of their songs. Overload is my favorite album because of the creepiness, and they didn't really have much of that creepiness for the next two or three albums. So when this released I was like YEEEEEEESSSSSS FINALLYYYYYY!!!

Fun fact about “good enough” gun-il (drummer/leader) wrote it about an unrequited crush he had while at Berklee :3

i'm so glad you gave them another chance, they're so talented

As you guessed, a lot of their debut and earlier stuff was intentionally supposed to set them apart from day6 and give them a separate identity, as well as very much catering to more of an 'idol' style, musically and visually (also why there is a lot more rap in their earlier songs, like day6). Now that both they've matured and developed their own style, and the company has realised that there really is an audience for proper band/rock music, they've been able to lean more into that.
