Crossing Madeira in the middle of winter also means having to adapt to the weather.

There is no official trail to cross the island of Madeira. While several marked hikes (PR) exist, none of them allow you to cross the island from one end to the other. So I had to create my own custom route, using lesser-known, sometimes hard-to-reach paths to complete this crossing.
Following the wildfires of summer 2024, part of central Madeira became impassable. I had to adjust my route and plan a major detour around the affected areas.
This adventure was filmed from March 11 to 16, 2025. Winter in Madeira is pleasant, but the subtropical climate remains very unpredictable: humidity, showers, fog, wind... many surprises accompanied this unique journey.
