Those gutters are called scuppers. Hey its good to see you back to work on the Titanic.

Neil is great, it’s a shame you guys are not closer, it would make a great show, both of you working together on a project!

That is WAY nice!  Good job!

That new deck looks great!

Thanks for the video Ben. Looking forward to you finishing your Titanic, to pick up more tricks and tips. 👍

The term "waterway" you have used to describe the "gutters" is correct. A "scupper" is a hole, for lack of a better word, in the waterway for which the water can drain out and over the side. Think of a scupper as the upper end of a downspout on your house. Thirty-five years with the Canadian Coast Guard and this is how I have always referred to these aspects of a ship. My De Kerchove International Maritime Dictionary confirms this. Waterway: Definition 2. "In a steel ship, the gutter formed along the sides of a steel weather deck by the waterway angle bar and the gunwale bar so that deck drainage may lodge therein until it escapes through the scuppers." Thanks for posting this video. I have the Scaledecks decking, but research indicates I likely have a set that doesn't fit properly, or at the very least, as you have indicated, is not compatible with the KA kit in a user friendly way. I placed my order for Neil's version today. Cheers.

Hey Ben, thank you for the update.😊 Nice to see, that some people haven't finish detailing the Titanic yet.

I wish the aftermarket would already release parts and wooden decks for the Olympic and Britannic. But well..... I don't know if this gonna happen... These two are much more unknown as Titanic... so as some mentioned in the comments already, little Producers are not interested to produce for a hand full of modelers 😢

In China there is a set of wooden decks for Olympic... But how the quality is...nobody knows😅...

Well, we'll see in the future😊

Greetings from Cologne, until next time✌️✌️

looks real good. i would probably paint the waterways first then apply the deck. it wouls be easier

You interchange the terms "forecastle" and "poop deck," but these two deck sections are opposite ends of the ship. The forecastle deck (pronounced "fok-sul") was the foremost upper deck at the very tip of the Titanic’s bow, located at the B-Deck level. The poop deck was located at the very aft of the ship that served as an outdoor promenade area, primarily for Third Class passengers.

The old deck looked nicer

One of the problems of after market parts is they are often produced by very small companies or individuals. That means they are susceptible to the health and security of one individual. A company I relied on, in New Zeland recently paused production because the owner has health issues. Another, in Japan, just didn’t find it profitable enough.

I’m sure you’ve heard of the Agora models 1/200 scale Titanic. I know it’s just your opinion which I deeply respect, but do you think these decks would fit that model? Or does the photo etch kit that these decks dovetail with prevent that? Thank You!

Do the scuppers (drains) run the length of the ship? If so, that means you have to blacken the edge of all the lower decks? Did he account for this on all the lower deck sheets? Thanks!
