Nice video. One trick I have learned is using davinci resolves plannar tracking stabilization. It will probably fix that jerkyness in your shots.

I film RC and I actually use a sholder mount because its impossible to track on a tripod. My biggest struggle is with auto focus now. Need to experiment more with aperture.

Good to see your experience here, I am an avid Airshow photographer and also try a bit of video. It’s not easy but I share your enthusiasm for it. Shutter speed is vital as you say, and unfortunately needs an nd filter which makes it difficult to swap to stills. Good fun though

Charles when I shoot video it is in manual and Auto ISO. I set the video frame rate at 24 frames/second with shutter speed double that of 1/50 or 1/60 second. The slow shutter speed gives some motion blur that makes it look more like film and not video. Aperture about F16 or 22 if don’t have an ND filter. With helicopters watch out for “rolling shutter” effect that gives an objectional curved look to the rotor blades.

I don't agree that video is better than images. Not one bit. Maybe a few videos during an airshow but photos are best. When I used to shoot airshows, I didn't ever take videos and never missed a thing. I would like to go back to the base and take more again. Loved every minute of it. Thanks for sharing...
