In the club where I train we have dedicated two sessions for ne-waza only. Good ne-waza is good judo.

And this is why BJJ could be called Gracie Newaza or Brazilian Newaza. Not jiujitsu. All BJJ is a heavy accent to Newaza and it is wrong that most BJJ gyms do not mention their origins, and do not credit Judo's Newaza as the actual source.

Unbelievable Newaza here. Some high principles at work vs techniques. Awesome to watch.

Had the privilege of training with him when he came to host a workshop in Hong Kong years ago. A truly great technician. What saddened me is you never got to see good newaza like this anymore in judo because of the stupid new rules they have, he would be stood up in seconds in the world championship when he tried to free his legs

59:34 Open guard, attempted guard pass, counter, sweep, mount, straight armbar. Efficient and effortless.

His half guard pass is so awesome. I never knew that before. I had a lot of difficulties with passing and never knew the proper way to do it.

I count myself lucky that my Judo Club focuses on the newaza game as much as tachi waza. It also doesn't hurt getting those bjj guys and gala coming through to train during open mats. This video is amazing.
