The Grumman Wildcat was a carrier based fighter aircraft which saw service during World War 2. It was the primary fighter of the United States Navy when they entered the war during 1941. Join me in this video as I build and review the 1/72 scale Plastic model kit of this small yet rugged machine which comes as part of a starter set from Airfix (A55214).

Take a look at the kit here:

These old videos pop up on my youtube page every now and then and they're lovely to go back to. I remember watching them when I'd first got into modelling and they definitely had a big impact on me (mainly because you used a brush!)

It's great to see how far you've come both in modelling and in video production, but even the newer ones are delightfully down-to-earth

Love your builds you don't go way over the top like some builders on YouTube who use airbrushes and such and you still turn out great looking models 👍

Thank you for a very helpful and enjoyable video. I have only recently started model making again as a result of the Covid 19 Lockdown and wanting something interesting to do since retirement. As a result of watching your video, the Grumman Wildcat will be my next purchase.

Very nice job. I really liked the whole thing from parts to build to painting and decals. I always pick up the odd new or forgotten tip while watching your videos. Thanks.

Looks great!

This was the third kit I built and my first attempt hand painting mr hobby aqueous paints, which gave it a sort of satin look.

Nice build of a starter kit. Best thing about Airfix kits is that they include pilot figures. Wish you had added yours to the model. Happy modeling. Bill
