New theory- Poltergeists never kill people because if they did, that person would also then be a ghost, and the poltergeists know they would beat the crap out of them on the ethereal plane.

"Please don't come and haunt me, I have no Egyptian statues for you to turn around" and "Give me a cup of water to knock over on my way out" are excellent sentences to take out of context.

Knocking over a cup of water is the ghostly equivalent of a mic drop.

7:19 I've experienced something similar. A few years back my partner got a new cellphone that had smooth glass on both the screen and on the back. They'd put it on their nightstand at night and wake to find it on the floor the next day. After a few nights of this mystery we sat and watched it. It was almost  imperceptible, but the phone began moving on its own making its way to the edge.

Turns out the smooth glass on the back meant there was close to zero friction when it was on any smooth surface, so unless the table or shelf it rested on was perfectly level it would just start the incredibly slow process of throwing itself off the nearest ledge.

Bit of a silly design flaw if you ask me; making a phone that tries to crack its own screen.

Anyway, we got it a silicone phone case and thankfully the poor thing became much less suicidal.

Mystorian firmly on the "don't f*ck with cats" team.

Having 19 kids is way scarier than having a poltergeist. I can just see the wife saying, Jeff come over here and hold the baby, and Jeff says, which one? Jeff left and never returned.

As a South African once said to me, "when people tell me there is no need for that sort of language, I explain to them there is and that is why I'm using it."

He wasn't wrong, and neither is Mystorian.

Knife-throwing ghosts... sounds like a Blumhouse movie

I don't believe in ghosts and hauntings. But when you talked about how "weird" it is that your bedsheets get thrown around too and you hear "invisible" dogs too, I laughed out loud imagining an extremely frustrated ghost trying to get any reaction out of you, and just being dismissed over and over again 🤣

the reason no ghost threw knifes is cuz no circus knife thrower ever turned into a ghost, i bet they would be a menace if they were ghosts

Imagine being this spirit and the family just call you "Jeff"

I’m not saying this is what happened, but the idea of a daughter faking a ghost to get out of a relationship and marry her old schoolteacher, poisoning her father along the way, sounds like an Agatha Christie novel.

Fellow sailor here! My last ship had just undergone a major refitting (an old schooner from the ‘20s). We were doing winter trials with a skeleton crew. Lots of creaking and groaning, some of us still getting used to the new features, etc. Some of it even sounded like proper heavy boots on the deck above. Especially in a North Atlantic sea in winter, the poor dear was really being tested. Anyways, we start joking about a ghost. We come up with this elaborate backstory for him (his name was Willy because we thought we were funny, he could be seen walking the deck at night or up aloft, he might even breathe down your neck etc etc). Anyways, whenever something went missing or someone had a funny turn on deck, we blamed it on Willy. None of us REALLY actually believed in ghosts, it was just a bit of fun. So finally we get some more crew. We tell them about Willy and they believe us. Or at least the idea that the ship was haunted is now in their brains. Either way, one night, one guy ran and grabbed the bosun telling her he’d seen someone in the rigging. She likes fine, let’s check. Nobody there. New guy is starting to get geeked and asks if it’s Willy. Our bosun was so tired, said Willy wasn’t real, goes back to her station. I’m on watch one night and one thing I’ve always done is carry loads of sugar packets you get free from cafes and the like. The guy with me is genuinely really freaked out by the ghost stories. I try telling him it ain’t real, we were all just a bit bored, no such thing as ghosts etc. He’s still not super happy, so I say Willy really likes sugar, so if you leave some in your pockets he’ll leave you alone. Which finally worked. At least on that one guy.

I’m not working that ship anymore but it makes me chuckle that in 60 years there’s probably gonna be a ghost podcast about a sugar-addicted WWI navy man who survived the war and was simply known as Willy and haunts the ship to this day. When in reality it was a handful of us arseholes spinning a yarn to pass the time and blaming “Willy” whenever things were misplaced instead of admitting you forgot where you’d set your seam rubber down. Wonder how many ghost stories start because a group of people were just a bit bored lol

6:00 They didn't consider the most logical and obvious answer. Santa. It was Santa Clause walking around up there. Simple really 😂

'rotating an Egyptian statue' is part of my vocabulary now. Everytime I'm annoyed I say something like 'oh I could rotate an Egyptian statue!' or 'this really rotates my Egyptian statue!'

You made me break into the Ballad of Brave Sir Robin. He bravely ran away.

So, my takeaway from the Bell witch is:
Family gets ergotism
Betsy starts doing crazy shit because she is off her mind on ergot
Richard Powell pretends to be the witch to manipulate Betsy
Some guy 70+ years later adds 90% of the content to it as an allegory for Freemasonry

I can't wait until I die so I can knock over everyone's drinks and break into museums for a rotation vacation

The only reason why there aren't any ghosts around is because of those brothers from that TV show with the old classic car, we should all be thankful to them, we can sleep at night without ghosts getting to us thanks to their work.

I really appreciate your videos, a lot of the stuff you debunk gives me paranoia/nightmares so finally having them debunked in layman's terms by someone getting progressively more incredulous really helps. 💛
