You start by saying that this is for beginners. But in 45 years of (attempted) music making, this is the first thing that's truly inspired me to really think about what it is that I'm doing.

Ngl the first beat actually was alright lol

Oscar, IMO you are the single most valuable resource for electronic music production on Youtube, period. No other channel that I know explains their concepts like you do, clear as glass. When I'm done watching your videos I've understood the concept and I know exactly what I have to do. You're such a great teacher.

Oscar, You’re a Gift to the Producer Community🙏❤

Absolutely fantastic video. So refreshing to see a video that emphasises ear training and intention rather than just feeding us formulas.

After watching so many videos one would think that knows how to do basic beats, but it appears that it's not the same as actually programming and hearing it. Thanks for the lesson, it was super easy to follow and well explained.

Every now and then you make a truely legendary video. This is another one of those.

I am an absolute beginner in terms of music production and have seen hours upon hours of YouTube content to learn more... but Oscars videos are one of the very view where you end up with a very clear idea of what you could try in your next project. It's not the "dont make these 5 mistakes" type of videos. So thanks Oscar for making positive and helpful videos and sharing them with us!

Terms to search: [ Polymeter ] , [ Turn Arounds ] , [ ABAC Variations ].

That was the most DOPE info I have ever seen about music composition, WELL DONE!

As others have said, this might be a beginner tutorial, but you're so eloquent and comprehensive in your explanations that I feel a learned a lot despite being a lot more of an intermediary producer.

seeing the same thing in the comments - i'm an old man and i've always had drum machines but everyone can get something from this - definitely not just for beginners. excellent work.

Not just for beginners. You ALWAYS inspire! Thank you O.

I've been making music for 10ish years now but still feel like a beginner. But I think that's the beauty of music. You can never master it. You will always have new things to learn, and you sir always show me new techniques and new ways of thinking about music. Thanks Oscar!

best and simplest drum explenation ive seen.

keep up the great work

Oscar, I've been watching your content for a while and have been creating music for a few decades. I still found this lesson to be useful. Its always good to return to the basics and remember your foundational concepts. We as humans love to complicate things and I feel this was a  perfect example of KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). Really nicely done. Thank you for sharing this and all that you do.

Leave space, do less — be intentional! genius advice! Love it!

Really inspiring for a 58 year old simpleton like me.

Great stuff, thanks Oscar.
